Anyone gotten HRH on Hotwire lately?

Hey everybody -- so, I've been seeing this hotel popping up on Hotwire lately for the 2nd weekend in December (the 11th, specifically) for $99. The location is listed as the Universal/I-Drive South area and it's rated at four 1/2 stars (an unusual rating - can be a giveaway that it's HRH). What do you think -- the rate seems too good to be true. :/

I don't think that's the HRH. The HRH has traditionally shown up with an icon for Children's activities, the hotel you're indicating might be The Peabody.

Hi, Gibbersome -- thanks for your reply. Yeah, I had a feeling it wasn't, because some of the amenities icons weren't there (childrens activities, like you mentioned -- also golf and tennis). Also, the rate is just too cheap. Just wishful thinking, I guess. :goodvibes

I don't think any of the Universal Hotels have been on Hotwire for years.

Oh, they are, frequently. PBH is available right now for my date (or I'm pretty sure it's PBH, it's got all the amenities, including spa, which only PBH hotel has in that area), and it's a 5-star. Problem is, though, the price is not that great -- $279. I can call and get it for the same price. :confused3

The last time anyone reported winning PBH on Hotwire, it was a 4.5 star. That's what it is pinned as on better bidding. I don't think the Universal hotels have been on Hotwire in a long time but since they have recently appeared on Priceline, it is definitely possible that they are back again on Hotwire.

Nobody on these forums or on better bidding have reported seeing any Universal hotels there for ages.

It also says, "We are still gathering reviews for this property", which leads me to believe that either it isn't Portofino, or they have just recently started putting them back on again at 5 star.

I don't know what else it could be though. If it is Portofino, the price they are asking is definitely higher than rack rate. Something is just weird there.

I think you are right, Damo - something seems weird there. The mousesavers website advises that RPR is usually listed as a 4 star, HRH as 4.5 and PBH as 5, so that's what I was going by. I do see where betterbidding gives PBH a 4.5 (just so I can be extra confused!! ha ha) -- also, I assumed it had to be PBH because I just couldn't come up with any other one it could possibly be with those amenities in that area. :confused3 It's the same rate I was quoted on the phone for that night, and, sadly, still too rich for my blood.
Sigh -- now off to find something nice off-property. Anyone have a reccomendation? :goodvibes

Some of the hotels on better bidding are so old it is hard to know which information is relevant in 2010 (now almost 2011).
