we have only been to DW once, and when we were there we peeked in the barber shop on main street. it looked really cute. our oldest DD has a friend who's brother got a haircut there, and she thinks that sounds cool. she wants DH to get a haircut there on our next trip. do you ever see adults in there? also, if he is not willing, is there anything they can do to DD's hair without cutting it? will they spray it or anything like that? i'm counting on the experts here. thank you!

DH(43) has done it twice. (January & April) and is looking forward to getting a haircut again in October. He even had them put a gel mickey on the back and gel and pixie dust on top. (1st time gel was green, 2nd time gel was red) He got lots of positive comments all day long. :goodvibes

When we were there in January a mother and daughter came into the barbershop while we were there and just had some pixie dust put into there hair.

I've seen lots of adults get their hair cut there. My son gets his hair cut on Main St when my parents head back to Pa. I've only ever seen one woman get her hair cut. Mostly I see children and dads. Occasionally there's been a CM getting a hair cut on an off day. One time we just popped in to say hi. They weren't busy and they put colored gel on ds's hair and some pixie dust. Your DD can always just get a bang trim or just get some gel in her hair and pixie dust. Usually they make a Mickey Head shape on the back of the head with the gel. Just one word of advice. The hair gel comes right off with water. So if you go to Splash Mt after getting hair done, the color will be all over.

I know a lot of CMs get their hair cut there. It cheap when you think about it, it's only $17 for adults and $14 for kids.

I've done it for my son now, 2 years in a row and we love it! I've seen adults and children...I say go for it!

My hubby has twice.
The last time was a few weeks ago.
They did a great job.
They also had a couple of kids who had gotten haircuts at the same time as hubby. Colored gel and Pixie dust (Mickey confetti) in the hair for them.
Actually hubby ended up with some pixie dust also, the barber was having some fun.

thank you for the responses! i'm going to have to talk to DH and see if he will do this! then maybe we can get some pixie dust for the girls. it sounds like fun!!

what kind of cuts do they do for little boys? I would hate t see my boys in buzz cuts with spiked hair. If they are doing gel in top I'm assuming it's spiked and mickey on back would be on shaved short hair??
I just want a normal cut, same length all around their heads. They have fine straight hair and I have always hated seeing little boys in buzz cuts.

wow only $17 for a woman's cut??!!? I have an appt next week at a salon - maybe I should cancel? lol :earsgirl: princess:

Our DD3 got her first haircut there last December and she loved it! She was made a fuss of, received lots of pixie dust, we got a lock of her hair and she got special monogrammed mouse ears and a certificate marking the occasion. Everyone in the shop gave her a round of applause when her "first haircut" was introduced to the World! Only problem is, she thinks she can't get her hair cut anywhere else, which is a bit of a problem since we live in Scotland!

There were lots of adults in the shop while we were there (and many of them said they were regular customers). We saw a little boy getting his hair cut as we entered and his was just a regular cut, then he got some pixie dust sprayed in place before he left.

There were no appointments when we were there, just turn up and you get taken on a first-come first-served basis.

DS14 and DH got one last Tuesday.

They were the first ones to get their hair cuts that day. We all got "pixie-dusted"

DS14 got a great haircut - better than I've been able to find him here at home - and he got orange gel. I loved the way the pixie dust dangled from the ends of his spiked hair!!

After several hours though, he got tired of everyone looking at him and commenting that he must have gotten his haircut at the barber shop, so we pulled out all the pixie-dust and he went in the men's bathroom and washed all the gel out. The haircut is still great though!

pyrxtc- no they do not shave their head unless you ask for that. They just cut their hair however you want it. They put colored gel or the invisible mickey on the back of their head (only showed up under black lights). My ds(8) my dh(35) and my dad(58) all got it done last time we were there.

pyrxtc: They do whatever cut you want. My DSs look horrible in buzz cuts, and they did just a regular cut without razors.

june@imsarc.com: no appointments, walk up only. They're open 9-5 every day but beware there are only 2 barbers so it could get busy in there. Best time to go is early in the morning, right around lunchtime and right before or during the 3pm parade.

They only put gel in my son's hair because he agreed for them to do it. DH was offered the same but he declined. The haircuts they got were what they asked for. And they look great!!!

We are planning on getting our son's first haircut there when we go. I was wondering what kind of wait should we plan on for our vacation in a couple of weeks? Is there a certain time of day that they are very busy, or does it get busier as the day goes on like everything else?

Best time to go is first thing in the morning when you get there as the day goes on it seems to get pretty busy.

Thanks, Do you remember the longest wait you have ever seen at the Barber Shop, or at least the average wait during summer season?

DS loves it there. They work so well with him and keep it entertaining. The best times to go are right after the rope drop (if you can get early PS for Crystal Palace or Cinderella you can be outside the door at the rope drop) or during the parade. I have seen it fluxuate during the summer so one day may be long but the next short. It is a little hard to say.

Shortest wait 15 min, longest wait an hour and a half.
