We just booked CBR for July 16-23. We plan on going to visit my fil for 3 nights and then head to WDW for 7. We're not telling our dds. When we leave, we're telling them that we're going to visit their grandfather. I am so excited...I cannot wait! :yay:

Guess we're the only ones braving the heat! We'll be down July 11-18 at POP for our girls' first trip!

Hi,
My daughter is turning 16 this year wanted to take 2 friends to Disney instead of a big party. So we are going down July 2 thru July 5th for a long weekend.
I have never been to Disney in July!!! I wonder if it is going to be crowded that weekend.

Have a great trip!!!

My best friend and i will Graduate in May... and we are heading to the World July 6 - 21... should be awesome.... hot, big crowds, but we have put so much into this trip i know it will be amazing...

We are also braving the heat and crowds for our 1st trip July 10-18!! I'm just to excited to care!:woohoo:

Me, too! I'm not even thinking of the heat.........:lmao: We have decided to keep the trip a secret from both dds. I'm not sure I can keep it that long ;) .

I bet you feel the same way I do that it seems like yesterday they were going to kindergarten! Oyee Vey where does the time go:confused3
I hope you have a wonderful time!!!!

Your right, where did the time go? I was glad she opted for this rather than a party. It was actually my DH idea. She is bringing three friends. I think I am going to be exhuasted!
Are you doing anything special? I was thinking of the Segway tour in Epcot, also a nice dinner at the California Grill with just her friends (I will eat either somewhere else or at the bar if I can). I also contacted Gifts of a Lifetime for something special and see what she comes up with.

Where are you staying?

We are staying at the Wilderness Lodge. We have been staying there since dd was three and she knows it very well and I would feel comfortable giving her and her 2 friends a little freedom. I was thinking of having a nice dinner somewhere in Epcot for her celebration dinner. I love your choice of the California grill and have been to the Outer Rim bar many times:thumbsup2 . It is beautiful there.
I have used the Disney florist to send baskets many times but I have never heard of gifts of a lifetime. What is the website address?

The website is www.giftsofalifetime.com I have used them in the past to create a special birthday for her when she was 10! They do a phenomenal job and well worth every penny to me!
We are at the AKL Kidani Village villa. They are the new villas that have 1 bedrooms with 2 baths. Important for us, since I will have (4 )16 year old girls and me! Cannot even begin to manage what the bathroom situation would be like with 1 bath! :rolleyes1 ANyway, we usually stay at a Monorail resort, so this is a little different for us. I am a little concerned because I know she would like some freedom and I would like to give her some, but 4 teenage girls alone has me a bit scared. I may let them do their own thing during the day on one of the days during our vacation, but I really have a hard time letting them be on their own at night...

In all my trips to Disney, we have never done the Calif Grill. I thought it would be nice to book it here and have them watch wishes from the deck.

Have you done the Kim Communicator? I thought they would be fun for the grils to do in Epcot. Have a great trip! Lisa

For those of you going in July who have never been during this time, I just wanted to issue a small 'heads up' to you. We were there in July in 2007 and 2008 and encountered this 'situation' both times.

This is the time of year in which HUGE Brazillian tour groups visit. They tend to travel in large groups and if you are in the same park as they are that day it can cause some kinks in your plan. They tend to all gather to eat at the same place at the same time which means NO leftover seating for other guests and VERY long waits at counter service locations. (My husband and I stood in line for almost an hour at the ABC Commisary in DHS.) They also tend to send a smaller group to hold a spot in line, while the rest finish up a ride and then they join the line and you end up being 50+ people further back than you were at the start. We talked to a few CMs about this and they didn't seem too concerned about it being a problem.

Please don't get me wrong, I am not trying to 'complain.' I just wanted to give people a heads up as to how these travelers can make certain areas overly crowded during certain times. They will normally camp out along Main Street for Spectro and Wishes about 1-1.5 hours before show time and will sit all over the sidewalks. They cheer and dance very loudly and can tend to 'overtake' the area in which they are waiting.

I truly hope my comments don't rub anyone the wrong way. I just wanted to make you aware of what you may encounter during your stay so you and your family can have a pleasurable experience. Teenagers of ANY nationality can tend to get unruly. I think it's the sheer quantity of teenagers all in one place at one time that can tend to get overwhelming.

Enjoy your trips!!!

We'll be there! We go every July - this year we'll be there from June 28 through July 12th. We've gone several different times of the year and believe it or not July is our FAVORITE time to go.

Yes it's hot, yes it's crowded, - but the parks are open late, you don't have to schedule things around when you can see Spectromagic, there are usually two showings a night.

We get to the parks at opening, leave around lunchtime, go back to the resort and swim/nap, and then go back at night for dinner and parades/fireworks.

We're staying at the BC in a deluxe club level room and WE CANNOT WAIT!

P.S. - for those doing surprise trips for the kids - we did this in October and it was fabulous. The kids had no idea at all until we woke them up and told them. They didn't even believe us at first, they thought we were just trying to get them up to get ready for school quicker!

Not at all.....I appreciate the heads up, especially since we will be traveling with younger children. Thanks! If you have any other tips, I would love to hear them :thumbsup2 !

This is what we are planning on doing. I hope it goes as well as I am hoping ;) !!! As of right now, I am also planning on waking the girls up that morning and just putting them in the car........not sure I can hold out that long, but I will try! :woohoo:

We'll be there July 7 - 14...celebrating my b'day on the 9th! How hot is hot? We're from CA Central Valley where it hits 100's - but a dry heat...what should we be expecting?

Its not the heat, it's the humidity :lmao:anyone from the Northeast will know what I mean!:rotfl2:

It will be sauna like hot but Disney keeps it cool - some of the queues have fans etc while all the inside stuff is A/C. Just be sure to bring water, dress for the weather and be prepared for about 1/2 hour of rain everyday.

Thanks for the info! Should I plan on bringing our DL ponchos? Or would that make things worse- humid and sticky with vinyl ponchos?

I usually have the dollar store ones because they are lighter and they work well. You can also just find a good spot and wait the rain out, it usually doesn't last more than 30 minutes. Oh and be prepared, it is usually a thunderstorm :scared:

Thanks so much! Great info and we'll be well-prepared! We actually like Disneyland in the rain...but humidity - not so sure :scared1:
