Anyone going Geocaching this weekend? **NEW CACHERS...POP IN!**

I bet it was fun!! :teeth: The pictures I could see at that site are great. Have to be a member there to see more though.

That is too much about the box! Any way they could have driven it up? Or flown it up? :teeth: Congrats on the finds! We had 9 between Saturday and Monday. My job is seriously in the way of this fun!!!! :teeth:  We headed out to one this evening while it was still light out. Forget it...need to do it in the morning on the weekends. I see we'll be HIKING to this one!! It's in an area where a hospital that's no longer in existence was located. :scared1: Headed down a broken up roadway, woods all around, overgrown greenery. Yup, we'll save it for daylight! Why do people ALWAYS pick these places? :faint: ;)

Congratulations on your daughter's wedding! Yes, guess you should skip geocaching for that! :) Thanks for the thoughts about my husband. I'm sure he would have liked this. Can I quit my job and do this full time? :teeth:

Geocaching rocks !!! We are headed to Cape Cod on Saturday and will be caching while there. It's so fun and the kids love it. We are the Pirate Piggies !!! lol pirate:

:wave2: Hi, Jenn...great to hear someone else is doing it.

Definitely the hilight of my day...went on my lunch hour and found a cache. :teeth: Cache #17, so I got addicted quickly. The rest of the day STUNK! Hope tomorrow is better. ;)

Hi Pin Wizard!
I thought you might enjoy reading the posts for this micro. A little background. "Fren-Z" is a local legend for concealing micro-caches. Each one seems to be more difficult than the one before. This one must be incredible! My DW and I tried to find it Saturday, along with 5 other very good cachers and we were stumped. Some of our best local caching talent failed miserably on this one, even when teamed up in groups of 5 or 6. It has finally been found; my DW and I still have no idea where it is. Anyway, to really enjoy this, start with the earliest posts and read your way up to the latest ones. It's pretty funny.

PS The references to "Tyson" are for our local FTF master. He now has 200 FTF's. No one knew why he hadn't tried his hand at this one. It turns out he was camping and didn't know about it. When he did try it, he failed the first time, too.

Oh, my gosh! That's hilarious!!!  So when are you going back to try it again? ;)

We have one here...an Impossible Ditti. Some people have spent two and three hours on it. Haven't gotten around to it yet, but I will...when I have LOTS of time. Amazing how fast an hour flies by doing this.

Found one yesterday that was at a rocky place on the shore. I'm looking all over the place for a micro, and what happened? Darling son was playing, tugging small rocks and found it!! :teeth:

Thanks for sharing that! I'd love to see other great ones. :)

I don't know when we'll try it again. If we do and we find it, I'll let you know. We are on vacation beginning Friday afternoon and we'll be spending a few days in and near Gettysburg so we'll be doing some caching down that way. I have quite a few virtuals picked out for that one; most have to do with the battlefield monuments. We may take the short drive down to Maryland to do a couple caches for a new caching state for us. Anyway, I think Ryder3 must know Fren-Z!!!! :earseek:

LOL! You could be right. Last night someone told me about Impossible Ditti 2. :faint:

Have fun in Gettysburg and MD!! Is geocaching the first thing you think of? It is with me. I'll be in VA Beach this weekend to meet with a realtor. First thought...I better print VA Beach caches out! LOL!

Virtuals are nice. I've only done one so far, but there are tons out there.

What works well on poison ivy? LOL! (Itch, itch, itch, itch!) And definitely let me know if/when you find the impossible one in PA. :)

We went out this weekend and got our 3rd FTF. There are very few caches around here so have to drive 2-3 hours to find them now. Takes a big hunk out of our day. We do have one thats about 20 miles away, but when its 98 degrees outside I'm not doing a 4.5/4.5 lol.

Congrats, hdecker! :teeth: :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc I wanted to go find one after work today. Had to force myself not to go. Really did need to catch up on laundry though. Don't blame your not wanting to hunt in that temperature. At least we have lots of water around here and the breeze off the ocean. Helps on those HOT days. Happy caching! :)

It's been soooooo hot here....and I'm dying to get out there. We are on vacation next week & hoping to clean up my radius a bit. Hoping for cooler temps!!

Hope you get them SplshMtn! We were at a park a couple evenings ago, just looking in a bush...while SWEATING! Couldn't believe it was 91 degrees at 7 p.m. I'll be looking for a lot of beach caches. :teeth:

OMG!!! This sounds like so much fun!!! Do I have this right? You can use a GPS or just try and find it using clues. When you fiind it, you can sign the log and take something, but only if you are placing something in the box. There are so many in my area!!

I know what we will be doing this weekend!!

Tinkerbelle739 - That's pretty much how it works. Unless you're really good with a topo map, you really need a GPS to find these things, especially micro caches (very small ones).

PinWizard - I don't know when we'll get back to look for that really tough one. Quite a few cachers have found it now although some have had a little hint. I usually consider trying to do a cache whenever we travel any distance from home, especially with gas prices the way they are. Might as well "kill two birds........" Anyway, we still plan on doing some in Gettysburg and MD next week during our vacation, plus some local ones. We'll be staying 2 nights at a B&B in Gettysburg that was a field hospital for the Union army during the war. We'll probably do a few between here and there to break up the 3 hour ride, too. I don't have a cure for poison ivy. I don't get it very often but I have used Calamine lotion and vinegar in the past. Prevention is the best medicine, I guess. We wear light leather gloves when digging around in the brush (we learned that in Search and Rescue) and we wash off well when we get home. My DW even carries those wipes in the car so we can wipe off our arms and legs after a cache. Mosquitos are another problem Lately, we have been leaving a small spray bottle of Deep Woods repellant in caches. We get them at Wal-Mart for 99 cents each and the other cachers always seem to grab them out of the caches pretty quickly.
Have fun caching this weekend!
Our DD gets married Saturday evening! :cool1: :bounce: :Pinkbounc

Tinkerbelle739...I haven't had this much fun in YEARS!!! It's the neatest thing when you spot it and realize...THAT'S IT!!! :teeth: And to read who else signed the log before you can be interesting in itself. :) And if the cache has goodies in it, it's a bonus. In a cache I recently found, I took a "Navy Family" pin. WOW!! That's a treasure for me! Wonder how someone would part with it. I've been on a kick leaving a USA pin. :) I think they're $.69 in Hallmark stores. And last time they were on sale!

MiJo...It sounds like your trip is going to be great!! Oh, the price of gas! Today was the worst I've felt it yet. Going to have to limit where I'm caching and when. You're right...kill at least two birds with one stone.

The B&B in Gettysburg sounds interesting! I wish you had my TB (travel bug) with you! I'm trying to get it touring sites of historical significance. So far it's been to two cemetaries in Indiana. :rolleyes2 LOLOL! Not quite the historical places I'm looking for! Someone has it right now...thank goodness. I'm hoping the stops get "brighter." :) http://www.geocaching.com/track/details.aspx?tracker=540008

I always think of wipes after I've been out somewhere. Used to be automatic to have them in the car when my son was small. Need to get in the habit again.

Congrats again on your daughter's marriage! Have a great time. :)

I met two geocachers last night! Went out hunting. :teeth: This was right at their home. Have you ever introduced yourself as your "screen" name? LOL! I did! I knew they would know me then. She introduced herself as Erica, I introduced myself at VirginiaGator (although Pin Wizard was on the tip of my tongue. I had to pause to find VirginiaGator!) LOLOLOLOL!!! After that I told her my name. As soon as she said "Erica," I knew who they were. :)

Ugh I havent been at all this year my GPS unit is giving me problems the screen is all messed up I have to keep wacking the side of it to get it to stay on, I have to go get a new one soon.

Oh, no! I would be in withdrawal! Lately, mine has been so slow to start up. Wait, wait, wait, wait, wait for things to come up, even with new batteries. How long have you had yours? Hope it behaves for you! :teeth:

Stopped at a cache at lunch time today. I know I was in the right place by the clue...look under the logs. Well, there are PILES of logs! LOLOLOL! Said forget this, plus it was kind of marshy. Yuck...not good with shoes for work. Maybe we'll stop there this weekend if we're over that way.

We'll hit a couple tonight before it gets dark. One is something like...the King likes mustard and "cache" up. LOLOL! The couple last night said it's at Burger King. LOLOLOL! People can be very clever.

Better get going so we have a couple hours of light! :teeth: Happy caching!!

A little late, but we're headed to Virginia Beach! :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :teeth:

I wish I was as "into" it as you are. I can enjoy it, but I'm not hooked. :sad2:
