Anyone going Geocaching this weekend? **NEW CACHERS...POP IN!**

WOW...we survived the picnic that we hosted for our area. :thumbsup2We had over 100 people show up. It rained, but it didn't stop the fun. I was so nervous about it, but it went just fine. We got lots of good feedback. The ammo can toss game gave me an idea for our own new game to try, and it ws a big hit! Since we all hate to find a cache full of nothing but McToys, why not have some fun with them? I went to a local thrift store and bought a Wal-Mart bag full of the toys. I had an ammo can, and taaadaaaaa new game. Yep, we created McToy Toss! We set the box in one spot, had a line to toss from and then people picked the toy they wanted to toss. All the folks that made it into the box participated in a "McToss Off", and the winner got the ammo box and then allof them that had made it into the box got a geocoin. We left all the toys strewn all over the area until the end of the day...what a sight! I think we will be seeing this game again! We had 14 new caches in the park and a couple of them were bg hits. So, it ended up going well, but I am glad it is over.
Now to get all geared up for the WWFM that we are hosting in 10 days! :grouphug:

Anybody else going to a WWFM?

I bought my gps finally!
it's the crossover I wanted - lowrance XOG.
I've got the road navigation down, today I'm testing out it's gps capabilities.
I know where two caches are near me, so I'm starting with them to see if I can find them with the unit.

Congrats on getting your GPS! Now let the fun begin!!! Let us know how you do using it!pirate:

Congrats on the new GPS, celerystalker! Hope you find lots of caches with it. :) Can't wait to hear about it.

lilallybean...Congrats on the successful event! Wooo hooo!!! :woohoo: :woohoo: Your toss sounds like it was a bunch of fun. And geocoins for prizes!   I might have to make a trip out there for that. LOL! No WWFM scheduled for our area. I'll have to look at the web site and see if there are any planned in Richmond or Fredericksburg. Haven't seen any. Only a WWFM wedding that's planned. :lmao: :lmao: THAT should be interesting. Have fun with it! :yay: :yay:

Found my 11th and 12th caches this weekend. Not a big tally, but you have to start at zero like everyone else (just like bulletin board posts).

The weather is finally cooperating and I hope to 'bag' a couple this week.

Congratulations, BunsenH!   I hope you're having a blast with the new hobby/sport/addiction. You're exactly right...we all start at zero. The first cache I found was in Virginia Beach. It was neat! After trapsing through woods we were unfamiliar with, we found a little plastic bag that was camo designed. Haven't found one of those since. And inside were lottery tickets. You were welcome to take one if you left a dollar for the owner to replenish the cache. What a blast! And I won $7 with the ticket!  It doesn't seem possible that finding that first cache was four years ago. Time flies!

I hope your great weather keeps up for when you plan to go out again. :)

Did anyone get out this weekend? It was gorgous here although pretty HOT! :faint: No caching for us. DS had his things going with friends and lacrosse, and I caught up with some things around the house. Any good caches found? :teeth: :magnify:

Here's my very own Disneyland Virtual Cache (no cache box, just stop by for a visit).

My family and I just got into geocaching last week, and we love it. Sadly, it has been pouring all week, so we've been unable to get out. :sad1:Maybe next weekend!

Glad you had fun!   Sorry you have rain. I hope it's better next weekend! We've had down pours a couple times this evening. I hope it moves through quickly since DS has a lacrosse game tomorrow. It's to make up a game that was rained out previously. Bummer if it's rained out again! :lmao: Will have to plan to go looking for a couple caches tomorrow, too.

I've found 7 so far - found my first two travellers as well - a geocoin I picked up in georgia and a rubber chicken travel bug I picked up near home. I'm taking them through Kentucky and Ohio week after next! :cool1:

Deja' vu is setting in. Celerystalker...I must have seen a post of yours on the forums at GC.com last night. I thought...I know that name. Are they a cacher in our area? Now I see this. LOL! :lmao:

Welcome to Geocaching! And congrats on your caches you've found, the TB and the geocoin!   Hope you're having fun with it. And with your upcoming trip, it will be fun to add lots of mileage to the TB/coin! One of my coins will be leaving VA soon. Someone who picked it up asked if I would mind if it left. No way! Pleeeeeeeeease take it! :teeth:

I'm in a caching slump. 0 for my last 3 (although only 1 was a true DNF).

I hope to get back on the winning trail this week.:thumbsup2

Have fun when you go, BunsenH! I'm sure your luck will change soon. Were a couple caches MIA? I don't like it when I have more DNFs than finds.

One was most likely a MIA. One was in a cemetery and there was a landscape crew swarming as well as a burial going on.:guilty: One near a busy golf course and my dog was pulling in a direction opposite of my GPSr.

Today's another day!

Ahhhhhhhhh...muggles! They can ruin the best hunts. :teeth: Too funny about your geopup. I once took our retriever with me. He wandered all over the place except toward the cache! He zig-zagged in front of me, lagged along behind me, stopped to sniff everything since it was all new territory to him. :) Finally, I gave up trying to get where we were supposed to be. I let him wander around and then took him back to the car for a drink. After getting him settled, I went for the cache without him. :) Learned my lesson! LOL!

I just bought DH a Geomate Jr. for his b-day. I hope it works like it says it does, we have done letterboxing and it was fun, so this should be even better. DD and I are looking forward to doing it on our camping trip in about 6 weeks.

Hi, JohnsonsRUs! :wave2:

I have not heard of Geomate Jr. That is a new one for me. Now I'll have to do a search of it. I hope where ever you're going camping has lots of caches!   Have you been letterboxing long? I've come across a few of them while caching. And at one of them I signed the book by mistake thinking it was a cache I was looking for. :lmao: I didn't recognize any names as I flipped through, but it had to be the cache. :lmao: :lmao:

Have fun with it! :magnify:
