I just saw on the news that they're running behind by 2 weeks. They say they're capping total refunds at $1B so the state doesn't run out of money before the end of the fiscal year.
Thankfully, I filed super early and have already gotten my Federal and State refunds.
That is such BS. So NYS overspent everyone elses money and now they can't give back what they borrowed. At the very least it should be IOU's. How can they just cap and tell others that file later that they are out of luck.
They're just delaying the refund a bit longer. From what they said on Fox-5/Good Day, it's a 2 week delay. A pain in the neck, yes, but at least you'll be getting the refund.
I heard the same thing.. Don't know if they're still adhering to that or not.. I haven't even filed yet - but don't expect to get anything back anyhow..
It was announced today (in my local paper) that the gov put a cap on refunds to be handed back. Once that cap was reached, then all refunds will be delayed until April 1st and then resume being processed like normal.
This is a farce, they simply refused to make the tough decsions last year and tax payers, schools, and other state funded things get last minute cuts or delay in funds, which usually cost the tax payers even more!!
People in government need to remember that the tax money they use to fund everything does not belong to the state, it is money taken from the people and allocated for the "public good" Now, I have some ideas what is public good and not, but this is not the place to get into that
