I was @ Walmart last night around 8pm, only about 15 or so in line for the 12am sales time... I was really expecting alot more, I was disappointed, I was hoping to find folks "camping" like the news reported.
This morning on the news they reported a fight at a Walmart where they only had **9** for the midnight release and 30+ in line.

Wanted to see if any here were able to get one.

Just curious.

I'm too old for camping out and waiting in line for a limited supply of anything...that includes shopping on BF. I did get an XBox 360 but only because I pre-ordered it. The tracking code show that it should be delivered tomorrow. I hope DS13 isn't around when it comes! He's home from school all week.

How about you, OP? Did you get yours?

I wanted to, but all of the WM's around here had more people in line than they had xboxes, and this was at 6:30 pm!!!! I live in Geek Central, though, so I suppose it's not surprising (Raleigh, NC, near Research Triangle Park).

I would have been willing to sit inside a Walmart until mid-night, but camping outside all night was a bit more than I could justify. Didn't sound safe. Oh well. :guilty:

I am not a video game player, I have an ebay/gymboree problem (but I can admit it :goodvibes ) and our DD is only 2, and my DH hasnt really been into video games since the PS2 & some dumb 007 game. They (DH, both brothers and many friends) would play for hours. This was about 4 or 5 years ago.

So no XBOX 360 for us, I was just curious about how long some waited, any fights, anyone get one & then turn around and sell it at the store like an auction or on EBAY. I was just being nosey.

My DH got his last night from Blockbuster. It's set up and he's already played it a little. It seems nice. He had preordered it so at 12:01 they gave it to him.

I hope everyone who wanted one was able to get one!!

I am glad that my DDs haven't even mentioned this. Otherwise, I would have been in line with everyone else!

I told my boys not to even think about it until the price comes down. They already have the original XBox, and our oldest is asking for a PS2 for Christmas. I'm even having a hard time justifying that ! Why on earth do they need TWO gaming systems?
Oh well, that an a couple games are all that he is asking for, so we will probably cave in....

FI took a half day from work and got in line at CompUSA at 5 a.m. today and the store was opening at 10:00. When he got there there were already 7 people ahead of him. Wouldn't you know they only had 8 systems and he got the last one?? He's so thrilled. I think he's crazy. Our deal was I'd buy it for him if he stood in line. :)

Wasn't me but my BIL called around the Orlando area and most of the Wal-Marts had long lines during the day yesterday. But, the Super Wal Mart very near Disney, just off Osceola Parkway, had only 3 ppl in line, so he went there at 6pm, was about 15th in line. Conflicting reports from mgmt on what was scheduled to arrive, and by midnight there were only 30something core units available, no deluxe systems came in.
There were arguments and the police were eventually called, but he bought a core unit and now has to purchase the upgrades.

I was at Walmart last night for something totally unrelated and I happened to walk past the DVD/Video game area. They had about 10 lawn chairs set up back to back (ala musical chairs) with about 8 ppl in them and a couple more standing around. They came prepared...coolers and pillows and whatnot. I don't know how many our Walmart had to sell, but there weren't *that many* ppl waiting, and it was inside...so that wasn't too bad.

We passed the Best Buy in our area last night at 6pm. There were 15-20 people in lawn chairs and blankets. I gave them a little beep and a wave and thought they were nuts. I like video games just as much as the next person, heck I have both PS2 and Xbox, but ain't no way I am waiting outside in the 20's for a $400 game system.

BTW- check eBay, over $1000 for the system already. That's where most will end up IMHO. :earsboy:

Someone at work told me one just went for over $2500 on e-bay this morning! Craaaaaaazy!!

My fiance waited 21 hours outside of a Target. He brought a sleeping bag, chair and about 4 layers of clothes for the 40 degree wet, windy weather. He was first in line though! Unfortunately he had to go into work today so he hasn't gotten a chance to play it. We heard stories of fights at some of the Best Buy's and Walmart's around the area.

I was at Best Buy last night around 5 and there were about 15 people in line with lawn chairs, blankets etc.

When I came out of the store, there were about 30 people total and 2 tents!! :earseek: Those people came prepared seeing how we had torrential rains overnight.

Dh Went To Best Buy This Morning At 8 A.m. They Don't Open Until 9 But Already All 50 X Boxes Were Gone!...before The Store Even Opened!
I Told Him That People Would Be Camped Out For Them But He Just Didn't Beleive Me....guess I Was Right!
They Told Him Now That He Couldn't Get One Until Feb Something

Yep-- there were already people camping out last night at 6:30 pm!

Sams Club was my answer this morning. They had 20 and people started to camp out last night. I went by on my way to work and line was not too long at 5:00 am. At that point decided to wait the 2 hours until they opened for business card holders. So for two hours worth the wait...was not going to be there all night. I love my kids....but not when it is below 30 not even for the must have xmas gift that will be plentiful after xmas.

Got to target last night about 5 :30 PM. Took turns with my mom and son pulled an all nighter. Was number 7 in line and got the box. I am beat up.
