Anyone get the XBOX 360?

Up North here our local Walmart had 26 in the store. My nephew and his two friends all got one they camped out all night starting at midnight until 8 am. They are thrilled and very hyper!!!!

I work early am at Target, and when I got to work @ 3 there were about 10 people in line. he first few had slept outside in lawnchairs since 10pm. :earseek: We only got 4 core systems in on our truck so they went out and told them about 4:30. He gave the first 4 people numbers so they could come in at 8 and buy them. It was freezing last night and I can't believe people waited!! We really did only get 4, some of the people outside accused the employees of buying them all, but we were told in advance we would not be able to buy them if we were working.

I read online yesterday how stores already had lines. I called DH and I got off early to get inline for him. He got there around 3:00 and he was in line at Best Buy until 8:00 am this morning. He got one and knew last night he would get one....

He and DS has already played the system and are happy with it.

No luck here. Hubby was at Walmart at midnight. They didn't give out vouchers till then--nor did they post how many they had. So of course there was a mini-riot and they called the cops. North Versailles Walmart sucks! This morning I tried CompUSA, BestBuy, Toys R Us, and Circuit City with no luck. Maybe we'll get lucky before Christmas.

This is the whole reason DH decided to go to Best Buy verses WalMart. I did go by WalMart after he got in line at BB and Walmart would not tell anyone how many if any systems they would be selling.

Dh just said our Wlamrt had 17 systems and if we would have gotten in line we would have been 18th in line. I am glad now he stay at Best Buy.

I went to 8 different places today, nothing, I have a Husband who is moping around almost in tears, they said if you didnt get one last nite, dont expect to have one till after X-mas if you are lucky.......Bill Gates launched a worldwide release there isnt enough 360's to go around!!!!

I missed out -- called Walmart yesterday morning, said they're was no line and they didn't know how many they were getting (ended up with 10). Showed up around 11 last night to find out they had given out tickets at 10. They called four other stores for me with no luck. Lines everywhere this morning. I was watching the little girl up the street or else we may have been in line at Circuit City or Target early. :) I can still hope to get lucky and stumble upon one before Christmas ......

Oh we still had one arrest at our target. I guy and his 5 buddies decided to drink. Get their names on the list then go back to their car and drink and cause trouble with people in line. We called the cops on him. Cops came and arrested the one guy standing around. His buddies left him. They made bail on their buddy and tried to come back and get their original place in line. The whole line piped up to management when they were giving out tickets and they were told to go to the back of the line. They only got core tickets and left pissed. Then they came back again. Really dumb people.
There was also another crazy lady cussing and flashing everyone and threatening to beat people up. She left too. All in all it was quite a show.

Pretty calm at the Target I camped out at. Some kids were playing football in the parking lot to help pass the time. Most people tried to sleep. The only thing that happened was people in the back of the line complaining to the manager about cutters when he passed out tickets, but I think they were just bitter because they wouldn't be getting one. All 40 systems they were getting (20 premium/20 core) were accounted for by 1:30-2am. Glad I got in line at 9:30pm, since I was 17 in line. Had I arrived 10 minutes later, I wouldn't have gotten a premium bundle since a group of four guys showed up 10 minutes after me, each wanting the premium bundle. And if I didn't get a premium, I wouldn't have bothered getting the core system. Now I just have to wait until Christmas to open it, since its my DGF present to me.

You know what the really sad thing is, most of those XBox 360's ended up on Ebay, I won't lie, I was tempted to auction the one I'm getting tomorrow, but I think the look on my unexpecting teens faces will be worth more than the profit I would get !

Dh has been planning for months with his! He had amassed enough credit(from trading in games-another story) at Game Crazy(Blockbuster) to pre-order it.
He was so sad when the told him they weren't going to release it at midnight. but, he got a call from the manager and they were able to do the midnight sell after all.
I wanna sell it!

My son is waiting on the Playstation 3 for 2006. I am definelty going to look into the preorder route though.
I think it would be mighty tempting to sell one of those Xbox 360's if I had one though. Thats a mighty nice little profit they're getting.

It's the law supply and demand.... they had no problem selling 5,000 (not atucual number) boxes at 300-500 dollars.... plus, I'll bet you the peripheral sales were pretty good even a week before hand... all the memory sticks and games and wireless controllers... you'll probably see a similar roll out with the PS3....

for the record, I do not have one nor did I think of standing in line for one... One of the guys I work with got one from Walmart... this Walmart did it a tad different... they had 4 premiums... they put 4 chairs in the mens bathroom at 8AM yesterday... the 4 that get those 4 chairs have to stay there all day... they can have a break every 2 hours...
then they had 16 core systems... the manager decides to have some fun with the geek squad.... they decide they are going to place a WM employee in a spot in the store at 9PM to hand out 8 of the tickets... at 9PM a garbled, accented voice comes on and mumbles where the tickets are.... everyone (including WM employees) is like HUH? the employees ask them to repeat...nothing... all of a sudden a yell goes out.. "HE's IN THE FOODS!!!!" and a mass sprint to the ticket hander in the foods... my co-worker complains to the manager... she says "this is a more FAIR way" which pretty much causes a riot...
Not to fear, they only handed out 8... so at 11:30 they'll hand out the other 8.... so my coworker calls in the cavalry... him, his wife, brother and brothers friends are there walkie talkies in hand... ready to pounce... 11:29PM the announcement is made... this time in a clear voice.... "He's at the Pharmacy!!!!!" only people in the store now are people stocking shelves (and there's boxes in every aisle) and the geek squad... my co-worker and all of his cavalry sprint towards the pharmacy... all you can hear is people running that way.... he turns the corner with the crowd and almost takes out the 1 normal shopper who has suddenly gone from shopping for shaving cream to having that deer in the headlights look.... they get around him, people are leaping over stock boxes... and my co-worker ends up with a ticket... definitely a funny yet troubling story.... why would WM chance a lawsuit from someone getting hurt?

me, I am happy with my Atari 2600!! :earboy2:
Later,
Paul

Dh said he really could not think of amount he would be willing to sale his XBox 360 for. He said for what he went through to get it he could not think about selling it. I on the other hand would have been willing to sale it in a heartbeat. He was about to the get the $399 one but he also bought 3 games, another wireless controller, the wireless connections, and a wireless charger. He wound up spending right at a grand for everything. He waited in line for 18 hours with no sleep. It rained the entire time. Not drizzled and it was in the 30's and lower at night. We alos had lots of wind and some sleet. So no he would no think of parting with it....

I do get upset when people stand in line to resale something. I totally understand the law of supply and demand but you ahve to think of all the kids/families out there that could barley afford the $299 one and they would never be able to do what they are getting on ebay for them. Bill Gates, well, what can I say....he is a very RICH man.

Here is a link to a smart group of individuals that don't think much of the Microsoft empire! They rounded up donations, waited in line, bought their 360 and SMASHED it!

I hope they get a buyer on ebay for it afterwards! ;)

ok - but do you understand that by mid-February or so all of these "poor" children will be able to walk into almost any electronics store and buy the system?

No offense or flames - I just don't understand these attitudes. What kind of world is it coming to when we are supposed to feel terrible pain for all the "poor" children of the world that can't afford to buy an XBox 360 off of EBAY?

My own personal experience is that it is adults who can't stand the idea of not having one of these AND I MUST HAVE IT RIGHT NOW! Kids, for the most part, are thrilled with Christmas no matter what Santa brings. :confused3

I have to agree with you here. Therefore I am opening myself to the flames as well. Dh got an Xbox 360 after waiting in line 19 hours. He would be totally disppointed if he had not gotten one while our 11 year old would have gotten over it much quicker.
