Anyone get an AP for Poly????

DH is on the phone with CRO right now, we couldn't get an AP rate for the Polynesian BUT we were able to get a AAA rate for the Poly for the same dates (early May). :confused3 Didn't make any sense to me, but maybe try calling back and using other codes if you can. Good luck everyone!!!!

We jsut got one for March 10-20 garden view and the contemporary was available as well.

The Poly books up without needing a discount so it is rare to have them offer a AP rate for this hotel. Too many Poly lovers, myself included, that will pay whatever they ask to stay there! LOL!

I agree, but after reading this thread I realize most of the people posting are or where already holding an existing reservation at the Poly when they try to get their rates converted to AP rates. Remember, if the resort is full Disney will not offer a discount. Sounds like these folks and many of their friends successfully filled the Poly enough so that no discounts were offered!

Glad to know we are all in the same "expensive" boat together:grouphug: At least I was able to get the AAA disc several months ago.

Looks like there will be ALOT of us DISers at the Poly for April 20-28 timeframe:goodvibes Make sure to sport your LGMH somewhere so we can all say hello.

We are in the same boat. I had a ressie for the Poly from 5/17-5/27 when I called to check on AP rates this afternoon I was only able to get GF for those dates. We always stay at the Poly so I'm honestly disappointed but like the pp said everyone already had a ressie there so now there going to have a lot of cancellations because people will book GF instead at the lower rate. Maybe tomorrow morning would be a good time to call and see if anything opens up.

That happens a lot. I book the Poly so I am sure to get it. It doesn't matter if we get a discount or not. Sounds like many on this thread.

Well, I wouldn't be casting blame at people for just securing their room. I'd never advise someone to hold off on reserving a room in hopes that a discount would come out. Much more important to make sure you have a room at all. Plus, AAA rates come out much, much earlier than AP discounts, and there are a lot of people who want to make sure they can at least lock in that discount. Only way to do that is to go ahead and reserve the room.

Being an accountant, I'm sure Disney keeps enough data from prior periods to be able to estimate the % of reservations that will be cancelled if a certain discount isn't offered. That would be a pretty easy thing to predict. So I wouldn't even blame those who have booked a room, but will drop it if no discount comes out. Disney will have accounted for those expected cancellations before deciding to not offer the AP discount right now.

The bottom line is tourism is enjoying good times right now and more people are looking to come to WDW. Just 2 years ago, an AP discount was fairly easy to come by for the Poly in June because travel was still trying to come back from some really down years.

As others, I was a little disappointed I could not apply an AP rate to my Poly res for late April. Even the CM that booked my res back in Jan said that when the AP rates are ava, there shouldn't be a problem applying the discount. Well, that didn't pan out, but since the GF was ava, and we love the GF, we decided to move over. Saving just under $70 per night essentially pays for my AP!

I wouldn't be surprised if a few AP rates pop up if there are a good number of Poly cancellations. I imagine they have a capacity threshold for making discounts available. So even though the discounts are not ava now, that could change. I've done the AP rates many times and have experienced lots of changes in availability. My GF experience yesterday was interesting - the first night of our stay was not ava at the AP rate when I called at 7:05. At 7:50, the first night, and remaining nights, became available. Keep trying I guess. . . If they do, I'll switch back :)

Poly books up even without discounts. We always stay there and rarely get an AP rate for it.
I don't agree. We stayed at the Poly. last year (May '06) and got an AP rate. And we stayed at the Poly. the year before (March '05) and got an AP rate, which we then replaced with a room-only code when it came out (and bought park tixs rather than the AP).

We have AAA rates for GVC at Poly for 5/28/2007-6/7/2007. This morning I called and confirmed AP rate was available for my reservation. CRO told me they needed my AP number. I didn't think was true but went ahead, hung up and bought my AP on-line (which I had planned to buy regardless for trips within the year and DDE card).

I then called ticketing to get my voucher number as I thought this is what I'd need to book the room. I called CRO back and they checked again and the rate was still available for my room. She applied the code and (re)booked it and said I did not need the number just to have it when I showed up. The discount paid for the AP plus about $30.

My mother in law going with us and staying GV (non-C). I tried and couldn't apply an AP rate to her room. I also couldn't upgrade her to GVC to use the AP rate. The very nice CRO lady told me it looks like I got the last one. Not sure if that is true or not but thought I'd pass on the information.

This is our first time ever to WDW...95 days and counting..

As I said before, it must depend on the dates you are going. We did not get one for June of last year or October or June the year before. We always got one in May but that is because it is low season. Obviously now the Poly is too booked up for those wanting AP rates for May and June of this year. It is a popular resort and becoming more so. AP rates are getting harder to find for that resort. We've stayed at the Poly 12 trips in the last 5 years and only got AP rates less then half of those trips.

I even had a hard time getting a Poly AP rate for this month's trip (early February). I ended up breaking my dates apart and asking about each individual night and found out there was one certain night that was unavailable (which was making my whole trip show up as unavailable) but the rest of the nights were available, so I just changed my trip dates.

Nannon16,
You were told you could get YC, BC or BWI for 258? When did you call? I would love to try BC, but I was told only GF was available for 324.

Thanks!

Lowillian

I called yesterday, mid-morning...I think it was around 10:30. I guess it depends on dates because I was told I could only get lagoon view for 399. If I had been able to get standard at 324 for GF I probably would have taken that to still be on the monorail since it's cheaper than what I'm paying for standard at POLY! Those rates for BC/YC/BWI that I got were for May 3-12.
