Anyone Game? 2 Castles and a Road Trip TR! Last Day and TR Wrap Up! #2796; 10/01

(Continued from Previous Post)

The Geographic Galleries are located on the upper level.

Talk about display overload here!

From the unusual....

....right through to the flamboyant.

And some musical genres that appealed to both DH and myself.

Although, I personally thought there were an over-abundance of string instruments in here.

We were all singing and dancing to the displays.

There really was just so much to see close-up. And it was all so amazing!

All in all, we spent nearly 3 hours in here. It was all larger than life!

The range of instruments from all over the world was stunning.

So....I might have picked this spot because of a need to find a practise instrument. But there is nothing wrong with acknowledging that it was a fantastic stop for our souls.

What a gem of a museum this is! And to find it in Phoenix??? It's definitely Rising Star! Even DS' music teachers had heard of it. I might have thought that entry was a little pricey on arrival.....afterall, I had originally planned for just a spot of piano practise. But really, given what we saw, it was well worth the money.

And the 3 hours we spent in here? For music geeks like us, it was nowhere near enough. Nowhere!

I have to say a museum must be the most unusual place for piano practice I ever heard about. It is great of them to not only allow people to play, but to encourage this. The museum does look fascinating.

Ok, I still can't quote/multi-quote here.....:headache:

So, going back one update -- that is THE coolest Barnes & Noble EVER!!!!

And, in this update -- what a fascinating place that museum is! Wow! My DS12 would have spent considerable time at the Taylor Swift exhibit as well. And that automaton is just creepy. ::shudder::

Great update! I love reading along, it's like traveling to all these places myself. :goodvibes

.

LOL! Love it! You will do your piano practice!

What a find! Great report. I am sharing with my non-Disney friends. (yes, they exist... strange world we live in...)

:)

WoC is my favorite show out of all the Disney shows! It's so beautiful and them music is amazing. I have the entire song in my iTunes that I play pretty frequently.

Need to get my mouth wrapped around that lamb burger! I've always heard Alison talking about it.

Holy cow about the flight! I would have been happy to have the earlier flight too than the later flight!....and then I read your next post about the car lol :lmao:

Awesome Dis meet and very cool pasta measure!:cool1:

Aww no video of DS on the piano?! Would love to hear him!

So glad you got to make it to the music museum!

DH is very particular on his measurements. He has made plans for a lot of different shapes of the spaghetti measure....and they are all mathematically formulated to maintain the same the amount of spaghetti for each.

When he gets the bookshelves done, he plans on opening a shop on etsy

Hi PIO, :wave2:

I've been reading and enjoying your DL report. I get to go with DD's band in February! :cool1:

Welcome to Arizona!

The MIM is certainly a treasure! Glad you enjoyed it. Looking forward to more of your travels in AZ!

What a fabulous museum, I'm surprised it was only 3 hours. Very cool DS could get some practice in.

I'm sorry about the flight, that would have been a stressful bit of time I can imagine! Glad everything worked out in the end :)

I agree that the Museum was way cooler than just a place to play the piano. Phoenix does seem like an odd place for such a display of fantastic instruments, but it is cool you found it. How did the piano exam go?

The spaghetti measurer sounds like it would come in handy in this household too - I never know how much to cook.

That museum looks awesome, and something that DH would definitely be interested in :goodvibes I admire your determination in (a) sticking to the original holiday plan and (b) finding somewhere for DS to practise :thumbsup2

I need to take lessons from you as you find the true treasures during your travels. The MIM looks amazing and what a great memory for your DS.

I have many wonderful memories of using my Great Aunt's playola piano with my cousins.

What an amazing museum. :thumbsup2 I'm ashamed to say, you've seen far more of this country than I have. I need to get a little more and venture out on my vacations. Really what a neat experience. Loving all the photos.

It is a Musical Instrument Museum.....I figured it would let people play. :thumbsup2

Absolutely fascinating museum. We need to come back.

Are you using a smart device? Not sure why you can't multi-quote.

We didn't get to go inside the B&N. But I wish we had. :sad1:

Thank you. I was a little worried that Dis-readers might not appreciate the non-Disney components.

That museum is amazing!

Jill in CO

Yes. I was really pleased to have found it.

What do you mean.....non-Disney friends???? Are they even on the same planet as us??? ;)

Oooh.....wait......you're sharing with them. I should be careful what I say about them, shouldn't I?

There's still a few days of non-Disney travel to go on this TR; so share away.

No video of DS. Much as I love him and am the proud mama and everything, I don't want to be one of those parents that think that their kids are the best at everything. (It's enough that I think and know so; I don't expect anyone else to think of him as anything other than a normal teen ;)).

Let me know when he has that shop on Etsy.

Hey Wendy! Thanks for the welcome to Arizona. We had a great trip in your state. :thumbsup2

I'm sorry about the flight, that would have been a stressful bit of time I can imagine! Glad everything worked out in the end :)

I really wish we could have spent more time here; but we still had to get to our next destination.
Next time, I'll plan for a whole day.

What a cool museum!!!!! If I ever find myself in Phoenix I just may have to visit this place!

:welcome: Thanks for posting! I was really pleasantly surprised at how cool this place was. And I hope you get the chance to visit it yourself someday.

DS did really really well at the exam. We're all still celebrating his result here. :cheer2:

Determination. :scratchin Yes, you could say that. On hind sight, I think it was pure craziness! Especially given that in the wash-up, we had so little shopping time on this trip.

Google is my friend. :upsidedow

You live in an amazing country. :thumbsup2

Oh don't mind me, I was just ten pages behind...gah! Caught up now though!

That's a bummer your DS was less than thrilled about the Haunted Mansion! It looks very cool with the holiday decor!

But, Splash Mountain definitely looked like a fun, albeit wet, exchange! :-)

Loved your night shots of Carsland!

World of Color looks beautiful!! And dinner sounds delicious!! A very nice ending to your already fabulous day!!!

Oh no, what an unpleasant surprise at the airport the next morning, but great that they got you on an earlier flight!!!

I'm sorry it took so long at the rental car counter! We've had similar experiences and they always try to sell a bigger, pricier vehicle! Good for you getting a brand new car in the category you wanted!! :-)

Yay another DisMeet and a yummy looking Japanese lunch!! That is making me mighty hungry for some Miso soup and sushi!!

The Music Museum looks spectacular! Wow! So happy to read you had a great time there! And kudos to your DS for keeping up with his piano practice even on vacation!!! Hope he does well on his test!!! :-)
