We are looking into relocating to NC and Wilson is similar in size to the city we live in now. I like that it is 30 mins from Raleigh and is just off I-95. The homes for sale fall into our price range (looking for 4+BRs under $225,000).
At first I was considering Wilmington and have also looked at Wake Forest. I guess I have a thing for places that begin with W.:rotfl:
Any thoughts/info would be appreciated.

I went to college there. However, I wouldn't want to live there for the simple reason that you had to drive to Rocky Mount, Greenville, or Raleigh to do any decent shopping! Four years of torture I tell you!

Seriously, like any town, there's the bad part (for some reason, around the college) and the good part. Hopefully, the public library has joined the 20th century since I graduated. (Computer...what is computer?)

The area right around the interstate has grown a lot. However, the finally finished a bypass so that you don't have to go through Wilson to get to Greenville which has cut down on traffic, but has also hurt some businesses, such as gas stations and restaurants that depended on travelers.

If you can drive Raleigh-Wilson in 30 minutes, I don't want to drive w/ you! :scared1: :rotfl2: I'd say it's more like 50 min - 1 hr to get inside the Beltline in Raleigh.

Wilson's nice enough, I guess, but if anyone in your family will be needing to work, I'd choose Wake Forest over Wilson. WF is still kinda small but growing. Quicker to get to Raleigh, too.

We live in north Raleigh, but actually closer to Wake Forest than downtown Raleigh. I've never been there, but my husband and daughter went to a HS football game there and had to go through metal detectors because of an apparent gang concern. My husband said it is a lot more southern/rural type of town than Wake Forest.

By the way, I see you also mentioned Wilmington. We are near there right now, specifically Carolina Beach. We absolutely love this area and are seriously considering relocating after our daughter graduates HS next year. I was born to be a beach bum. :teeth:
