WAS WONDERING IF ANY ONE FROM NEW YORK, WHO HAS SAILED DCL BEFORE, AND WHO HAS BOOKED THROUGH DISNEY FOR AIR FARE AND TRANSFERS, CAN TELL ME WHAT TIME THE FLIGHT LEAVES FROM JFK OR LAGUARDIA WAS? JUST CURIOUS. THANKS

I see you are from Coram. Why don't you think about booking your own airfare from www.southwest.com out of Islip I'm sure it will be much cheaper than going through DCL. That is what I do. Usually pay $139 roundtrip per person. Of course it depends on the time of year.

I have gotten airfare for as low as $59 pp each way out of McArthur to MCO. You do have to book pretty early. Good Luck.

THANKS TO YOU FIRST 3 WHO ANSWERED MY POST. BUT I WASN'T VERY CLEAR AND HAVE SINCE CHANGED IT. I'M HAPPY WITH THE PRICE OF EVERYTHING THROUGH DCL. WHAT I REALLY WANTED TO KNOW WAS WHAT TIME THE PLANES LEFT FROM JFK OR LAGUARDIA TO GET TO ORLANDO, TO CATCH THE SHUTTLE OR BUS TO PORT CANAVERAL. I'M CURIOUS WHAT TIME OUR FLIGHT MIGHT BE. THANKS

Just wondering why you would rather go to JFK or LGA rather than ISP its much easier and less traffic

Also SWA has great fares

but then my drive from the east end ,,, I want it to be as short as possible.. ya know how those NY drivers are

The flights out of LGA are usually very early in the morning if you are flying out on Saturday for the Saturday sailing. That is why we go a day early now:rolleyes:

I would not let Disney book our airfare for us, I would rather fly in the day before and be at the port nice and early the next morning. We live in Suffolk county but we are going to fly Jet Blue, I dont care for southwest and jet blue doesn't fly out of Islip so we have to go west for our fight.

Ok guys, just to set the record straight. I would have loved to go out of MacArthur. I know I could have gotten cheaper airfare. It would have been about $400 less for the total I'm paying for the three of us going through DCL. I have traveled before, but I figured, first DCL cruise, let them do it all. I do not want any problems or to take any chances. I want the excitement to start for my DD when she places the tags on the luggage. Next time, who knows. But I figured this time, NO SURPRISES! Still wondering if anyone knows about what time the flight would leave from JFK? Thanks all!
 :wave2:

When we flew out of Jfk on Jetblue in Sept., we were on a 7:00 a.m. flight and were met with DCL transfers and were on the 2nd bus to the terminal. The first bus leaves MCO at 9:30 a.m. and then they leave when they are full. They have a chart of how many pax and what time their arrivals will be. We booked Jetblue on our own though, so I don't know what airline you would be on. I do know Jetblue runs almost every hour in the morning to JFK from MCO.Hope I helped a little.

Oops, I got excited to see a fellow Long Islander posting. I didn't really answer your question. I have not used Disney for flights. I have flown out of JFK for MCO. They were very early flights 7 am and 8 am. I think Disney uses Delta. We were on a Delta flight the morning of our cruise, it was at 8 am. I know some of the passengers on that flight were booked through Disney and were met at the airport by disney. We rented a car and drove to the port. We made it to the port in plenty of time.

hey NCMVP, I work in Lindenhurst, LOL. Small world. Are you booked for a cruise? I'm going April 3, Can't Wait!

I am from West Babylon!

Hi Sillysmom,

We are booked on the Jan 3rd 2004 cruise. It will be my daughters Sweet 16 th birthday present. That is what she wanted to celebrate her birthday. I have trained her well, right? LOL. This will be our third Magic cruise. We were on the April 26th Magic this year. I think April is a great time to go on the cruise. There seems to be less problems with the weather. Have a great time! Mary

Hi also Aprilgail2,

We probably pass each other on Montauk Highway all the time. I work in Babylon. Mary

To be honest, DCL air is very subjective and it is possible that you might not leave JFK or LGA before 11 AM. All DCL air has to guarantee you is that you'll make the ship, you have no choice in the times that DCL places you on, and you are not guaranteed a direct flight as well. Now, with the number of flight to MCO from LGA and JFK, the possibility of a connecting flight is small, but it still might happen, so keep that in mind. My friend who lives in Massapequa Park flew on DCL air out of JFK and her flight didn't leave until around 11:00. She landed in MCO at 1:30, and didn't arrive at the ship until 2:30, now plenty of time, but I had been on the ship for 2 1/2 hours already!!! Keep that in mind, and if you do end up with a later flight time, it could hurt your chances in obtaining Palo's reservations and Flounder's ressies if needed. There have been MANY reports of the ship leaving late due to late arrivals on DCL air. I'm sure DCL doesn't like to cut it close, but I believe they do schedule some people to arrive later at MCO, to avoid a mass rush of passengers in the early AM for the shuttles.

When I was in High School, I used to work at the airport doing food service for employees!

You should rethink your position on flights. Wouldn't you much rather go to Islip and fly out? The drive is easier and I would imagine parking a breeze. You could probably find someone to drop you off, no? Who wants to drive to JFK or LAG? I don't see the point. Believe me you won't gain much by taking Disney- in fact I think you will lose with them! Go to the Tiffany Town Car web site and get a towncar to pick you up from the airport to take you to the cruise terminal. Honestly, that is the best way to go. They will also pick you up when the ship comes back and drive you to the airport again. Check it out. See you in a few months!

We have often taking DCL air, but out of Newark...even though we live in the NY, Newark is the closet airport to us. We always had 7:00 am direct flights out of Newark. But, I would have to agree with the other posters about booking your own airfare...we now always book our own and fly down the day before. We are much more relaxed and well rested than pushing it on the same day..as well as saving tons of money. We do take out travel insurance in case of mishaps, though. Plus, I like to be one of the first on line at the terminal and one of the first on the ship at noonish....then I have five full hours onboard before we even sail!!!

The only thing is that DCL has the bus.....all the bus has is a video tape with cruise highlights....not much different than the video you can get free from DCL. I would much rather take a limo and get then earlier than depend on the DCL bus. We have often waited about 40 minutes to get on the DCL bus from the airport.

I KNOW, I KNOW, ALL OF YOU ARE MAKING A GREAT POINT, AND THAT IS PROBABLY EXACTLY THE WAY I WILL GO THE NEXT TIME. BUT LIKE I SAID, I JUST WANT TO MAKE SURE ABOUT EVERYTHING AND FOR IT ALL TO GO SMOOTHLY. I KNOW I'M PAYING TOO MUCH, AND GOING OUT OF MY WAY, BUT WHAT CAN I SAY? WHATS A COUPLE HUNDRED DOLLARS EH YOU ONLY LIVE ONCE RIGHT? I'LL FEEL LIKE I LEFT IT ALL TO THEM. LESS FOR ME TO DO.
;)

Sillysmom,

I do the same as you. Especially the time of year that we always go. We barely made it out this year with the February blizzard. We did use DCL air deviation for next year (alot more money) to get direct flights the day before. I look at it this way, if something goes wrong (like a blizzard) it is their air, and it would be their responsibility to get us to the ship. If it was my air, I would be the one stressing to find a flight if mine was canceled. For peace of mind in the winter, I go with DCL air.
