Has anyone flown with Travel City Direct before ? and what are they like ?
I am wondering because in the last 2 years i have used First Choice but as they are no longer flying out from gatwick on a saturday in DEC ...I am looking at using them

Cheers:thumbsup2

This question appears every month without fail, do a search on them and then read ALL the reports - there are as many good ones as bad, its YOUR holiday and YOUR choice, if thery're going when, where and for how much you want don't let anyones negative reviews put you off.

As I have said, would it not be worth having a "sticky" or even a new Dis UK section of reports on the various airlines flying to Orlando, car hire recommendations etc..?

These questions do keep coming up and it must be difficult for new members to trawl through the vast amount of posts to find the basic information thet they all ask.
What do the Mods/members think?

The trouble with having a sticky thread is that it has to be kept up to date by someone as the effect of having incorrect information on it at any stage could be very damaging. Having too many sticky threads also makes the forum uninviting for people as regular visitors have to scroll past a large section of these in order to get to new topics that they might wish to participate in. With Sticky's less is usually more and I am not really a big fan of them (if you couldn't tell ;) )

In my opinion this is a discussion forum not a directory, and whilst topics come up time and time again peoples opinions change and new people come along that might like to contribute to such a discussion. What was relavent 1 or 2 months ago might have no bearing on a new discussion and most people wouldn't want to scroll past all this information to get to what is current.

Hi :wave2:

I have flown to Orlando with TCD twice in, 2005 & 2006 and been very happy both times.

Before booking each time there was alot of research into different flights and each time we couldnt justify spending so much more on another airline.

When booking for next years trip I will do the same searches and will go with who provides the best price & best times for us. At the moment when I calculate the same dates for 2007 Virgin are only £100pp more which isnt too bad but our friends are going with us and have two kids so the £400 difference for them, £600 for all of us, would make us book TCD.

:yay:

We flew last October from Manchester, 4 of us with two DDs (8 & 6)

We upgraded to the upper deck, which was well worth the money, (£129 each) and something we couldnt have considered with Virgin, BA etc

Its a plane at the end of the day. It gets you there.

The plane wasn't brand new, but it was clean.

The cabin crew were fine, but we are not a heavy user of in flight facilities so are not over fussy. Saying that, our 8 year old had a nose bleed about 5 hours into the outbound flight and they couldn't do enough.

Flight was on time going out but left late coming back, but the flight back was only 6 1/2 hours due to the winds, so we landed on time.

We will always fly the cheapest option, until we win the lottery when we will fly first class eveywhere!!!!!!!

Have a great time.

I have to sing their praises having been with them 7 times and going again this September. You get what you pay for in the end, although I hahave found the service excellent, they are always happy to help. If your going to WDW/Orlando on a budget then they come highly recommended by me.

Dont be put off by the prices, do a comparison, save some money with TCD and enjoy your holiday.

We flew with tham back in 2003 & had no complaints they were the cheapest I could find for direct flights from Manchester.

No frills but i would def use them again

We flew with them last year, had absolutely no problems at all. In fact we are going to book with them to go again next year.

2 years ago there were loads of complaints about delayed flights etc, last year it seemed there were a lot less people on here complaining, so I think they have managed to get it right at last, I flew with them in 2005 and apart from the plane being old have no complaints at all!

A few days ago TCD had yet another 24 hour delay and the number of lengthy delays they have means we will not use them.

We flew a couple of weeks ago to Florida with First Choice from Manchester and parked up there was a TCD Jumbo. It was still there when we got back two weeks later and had never moved. Paint looked to be peeling off the tail and there were ladders up around the front end. It just looked to be falling to bits and they would never get me on it. It was TF-AME.

I used them last year for the first time, I was not subjected to the huge delays I'd experienced with Virgin the year before and apart from the plane being a bit tatty like you say, there was nothing wrong with it, in fact it was far better than a thomson brittania flight I'd used the year previous.

We're flying Sunshine First with TCD in September for the third year running. We used to fly with Virgin and I have to say that TCD is much better value for money - we couldn't fly PE with Virgin for the the cost of SF with TCD. I would prefer to use Orlando International rather than Sanford, you will notice the extra distance when you are arriving, but I'll put up with Sanford airport to get the extra space and great food in Sunshine First.

We thought we'd try them for the first time, last year!
Will not fly with them again.... see thread!

In the height of the season, they just don't have the back up of other airlines.
If you book Sunshine First with them ( to get the equivalent of a virgin flight), you run the risk of being delayed, (we were delayed over 24 hours) and even transferred to another plane, where you have to sit with economy in cramped conditions.
I would rather spend slightly more, and go with an airline that has more back up should things go wrong.
Saying all that, I know that many people have not had any problems - maybe we were just unlucky?! I'm not prepared to take that risk again.
24 hours out of my hard earned holiday is a big deal to me!

Got back this morning and we flew with TCD. I've no complaints whatsoever, both journeys were on time, food was very good, cabin staff were excellent. We would definately book with them again.

we have always gone with TCD because of the price and never had a problem.
