Anyone flown into Tampa

or any other airports close to WDW for their trip to WDW? If so, where did you fly into and how far and difficult was it to drive to WDW?

Trying to get air reservations over July 4th, and everything is pretty high.

Any help would be appreciated.

I have flown in to Tampa. It's a very nice airport. I think it's about 80 miles, or less than a two hour drive to WDW (if memory serves). Have also flown into Orlando many times. It's only about twenty minutes from WDW so its the fastest/easiest.

Maybe you could try Melbourne and Daytona Beach also, they;re both about 50 miles out. I've never flown into those though.

We have flown into Tampa many times -- usually a lot cheaper. It is about 70 miles to Disney -- taking I-4 east. Very easy!

Same here. Not a problem but to be honest we end the stay with a weekend at Clearwater Beach-awesome.

We flew in and out of Tampa for our last WDW trip, as it was cheaper and had better flight times. I would not hesitate to do it again under the same circumstances; as others have said it is a very easy drive and took us about 90 minutes to get to our hotel (HIFS). However, if prices and times were equivalent I would definitely choose MCO for the shorter drive time.

If the price is right, I would take the Tampa flight. In March I4 had construction so that may slow your ride down. But for the $$ it would be worth it.

We always fly into Tampa to ivisit relatives, and then out of Orlando. Tampa is about 1&1/2 hours from WDW- very easy ride.

We flew into Tampa just this past March the drive to Disney was easy, took the I4 and actually exited at Hwy 27 Clermont as the traffic into Orlando was already starting to back up on the I4 , went north until we hit the 192 (Irlo Bronson Memorial Hwy) and then headed down 192 to Disney. Easy drive and alot less traffic.
