All this talk about peanuts in my coke, Christmas traditions, family, etc. is making me feel nostalgic. List your favorite old fashioned or childhood memory or tradition or food, or whatever makes you smile from your past.
Mine are endless, but here are a few:
Penny candy
Riding in the back of a pick-up truck
Nothing open on Sundays
TV's that you had to get up to change the channel on
8 track tapes
Playing hide and seek
Building "forts" in the house on rainy days
Real Christmas trees with large lights on them and lots of icicles (silver strands)
...something probably unique in our family was to always have a real coconut under the Christmas tree every year. After Christmas, mom would make her famous coconut cake (even shredding the coconut and using the coconut milk). Seems like too much work now.
