Anyone famous in your family?

Boy is my husband gonna hate this - I kissed a Kennedy! Alas, not a very famous one. In Jamaica in the eighties during a girls trip, we met up, hooked up, and parted ways (in those days, hooked up meant we danced a little and a kiss). He had a driver and some friends, and apparently they owned a house somewhere in Jamaica. We met up the next night at a rock diving club and that was it! His name was Douglas, and he was the youngest of Bobby's children. He never met his famous dad. Melissa

Yep we have someone famous in the family. My mom's cousin is Mary Wilson from the Supremes. ;)

Rats, no, I don't have anyone famous in my family
but shhhhh....Mrs. Butterworth, Aunt Jemima and Oscar Mayer are in my kitchen.....yes, right now as we speak. :rotfl2:

Wasn't it RobinRS who was related to Master P and Sillk the Shocker?!? I remember that from a while ago.

I have a semi-infamous uncle. If you are familiar with the story of Buford Pusser and "Walking Tall," my uncle was the ringleader of one of the bootlegging, drug dealing, prostituting gangs he fought. I have an old 45 record that someone cut over at Fame Studios in Muscle Shoals singing about him and his escapades. The phones at our house were tapped while I was growing up, whenever I spent the night with my cousins my mother was always very apprehensive, not knowing whether that was the night the Feds were coming to get him or not! ha ha ha! I was blissfully unaware of it then.

Douglas Kennedy (born March 24, 1967) certainly met his father. The eleventh and last child of Bobby and Ethel was Rory Kennedy-she never met her father because she was born posthumously.

My great-great-great-great-great grandfather (It was 5 greats) started the Revolutionary War (I think that was the war - my sister did a lot of research on it) by calling someone a Yankee and I think threw a chair at him. He was involved with Swampfox somehow. This is true (I have so much to be proud of) but I can't remember all of the details. I'll have to ask my sister.

My ex-boyfriend used to date Neve Campbell. He was in a lot of major musicals. He understudied the role of the Phantom in The Phantom Of The Opera.

My dh's family are descendants of Supreme Court Justice Marshall. MIL's maiden name Marshall.

Also, my dh used to hang out with Kirk Cameron and his wife b/c his wife was from Rochester and dh's first girlfriend was wife's bf. He said Kirk was a big geek/dork- heehee!

I really don't want to say who it is, but I have a second cousin that is a really famous rock star, and I never see him, and if anyone asked him about me he'd have to be reminded who I was ("you know, she's Bertha's cousin's daughter. The one that always brought the egg salad to the picnics."). So it's not that interesting of a story except that the guy is famous and wealthy and the whole family is almost ashamed of him because of his suggestive lyrics!! When asked, they all say, "Ewwwwww he's awful!"

My husbands great aunt was Agnes Morehead, he only met her a few times when he was a kid. Ok so who knows who she even is :rotfl:

I am a distant cousin of the late Claude Atkins who appeared in several movies and TV series. He was Sherif Lobo on BJ and the Bear, and a short lived series called the misadventures of Sherif Lobo. I know I've seen him in serveral things but didn't realize how many things he was in until I looked him up
I met (and danced with) Claude Atkins at a 'fall premiere' party in the '80s. He was a very nice man and a decent dancer!

I'll be famous one day. I'll be singing on the stage of the Metropolitan Opera...just wait and see. As for my family? I'm related to, by marriage, President Andrew Jackson.

Are you studying for it now? That's so great! I love Opera. I'm listening to Turandot right now.

Famous only to those who follow racing here in the NE and the East Coast.
My dad was Steady Eddie Flemke, also known as the Eastern Bandit. Ran Modifieds until his death in 1984. My brother is Eddie Jr. who is still currently racing. My BIL is Ron Bouchard who won at Talladega with the "slingshot" move, can't remember the year.

:cheer2: :cheer2: Another opera fan. I graduated from school in '03 with a Voice Performance degree with an Opera Emphasis. I haven't done much with it lately though. I got burned out during my last year in school. I have started singing again though. I've been with this new teacher for about six months now and have made some great gains. Turandot, a great opera. Which one do you have? Who's singing? I don't remember who's on the one I have. Pavoratti is the Tenor, that I do know, otherwise I have no idea. Just so you know, today at 1:30pm (eastern time) the Met will broadcast Rossini's "Il Barbiere di Siviglia" Can't wait for this opera. This is the opera that has that famous baritone aria, "Largo al factotum"- if you don't know it by name, you'll deffinately know it when you hear it. If you can't get it, try finding it on the internet. Have fun and I'll talk to you later.

I am related to a bunch of Hawaii-associated or Hawaii-based celebrities and historical figures, but one of my favorites is my great-great grandmother who was one of the first few women to sign a petition against statehood (actually, "territorial-hood") for Hawaii. Back then women didn't do that sort of thing... they just got married, had babies, and raised families except if you were from the monarchy, of course.

Another bunch is from my mom's Portuguese side and they were important and famous historically because they made a 41 day journey to Hawaii from the Madeiras Islands, kept a journal, and that journal is one of the most complete. My relatives and their descendants went on to become famous in the state for being educators, state figures, and some entertainers and celebrities.

In the traditional sense of fame, though, I am related to Marc Singer by marriage (he is married to my dad's cousin who was a regular on M*A*S*H).
