We had a Platos Closet open up in our area about six years ago. Just the perfect time for my then young teens. Over the past few years, DD has tried to sell her clothes to them. She will take bags of current style, great condition clothes, and they will buy maybe 6-8 items. We just got an email from them saying they were "desperate" for Fall clothes, especially jeans! DD runs up the next day with 5 bags of clothes, including 6 pair of jeans. They bought a few items, no jeans. What gives? What kills us is that while going through the racks, we find out of style items that are ridiculous! None of her items have been older than 2 years. Very frustrating.

Thats pretty typical - i've noticed that they really want the opposite - if they say "we want jeans!" they are really looking for accessories and shirts

if they say "we need shirts!" they will take shorts, skirts, and jeans - they really have no rhyme or reason

and DON"T be plus sized and try to sell them something - they drug me around the store and asked girls (who were skinny) if they would like to wear (i think it was a prom dress) the item with one of their friends! I was mortified

Yep. I went in with all my old clothes (still in great condition) - brands like American Eagle, Target, Old Navy, etc. They took like 4 things. Very weird. Yeah, no plus size stuff to be taken or bought from there at all. I just take my stuff to the thrift store now. Oh well!

I had taken my DDs clothes in to sell one time, almost all Hollister when Hollister was still in style. I am an older plus size middle aged mom and they looked my up and down like I had cooties. They wanted one Kohls top that I had forgotten to take out before I took them. Never again, she will have a yard sale before she goes back to school these days or sell or give to someone.

I won't touch those places with a 10 foot pole. They give you peanuts for your stuff. Find a Facebook resale group.

This!!!! They gave me $15 for 4 pieces of American Eagle clothing, lightly used. Totally insane. And stuff for sale in there isn't super cheap, so that $15 bought me like, one shirt. Lame.

Wow, 6-8 pieces: you're lucky!! I took in a bag of mine and DH's clothes and they bought two items and a pair of shoes for $9... They said the rest of the items weren't currently in style. Everything I had for DH was polo shirts... how do those go out of style?!
