Anyone familiar with Fenwick Island, DE?

My parents have rented a house on Breakwater Run in Keenwick Sound. Just wondering what the area is like, such as, which beach to go to, dining, etc....thanks for any help!

Fenwick Island beach is a small beach situated right between Ocean City Maryland and Bethany Beach Delaware. The beach itself is probably only one mile long (before you go into Ocean City or Bethany). From what I remember, Fenwick doesn't have any outstanding restaurants on it's own. It is still very small and much less developed. But other beaches are so close that you can get all your entertainment there. My friend goes to Bethany and eats out there most of the time. Unfortunately, I'm not familiar with the restaurant names. I usually go to Ocean City but the restaurants there are a crapshot. I prefer to go to the little honky tonk places and get a crabcake. Two places that come to mind are Leo's (right on the O.C./Fenwick line--ocean side of the highway) and the Crabcake Factory on 120th Street below the Georgia Belle hotel. These are pretty much *dumps*. Not fine dining, but have some the best crabcakes you will eat.

My parents used to have a place on the bay at Fenwick Island. It was pretty remote, and very rural. To go to a restaurant, they would drive somewhere and take the Ocean City bus...

My parents rented a place in Bethany a couple years ago and really enjoyed it there. I'm more familiar with O.C., so we can split our time between both places.

The house is on the bay side and is brand new. All I know is that it's in a development with a community pool. I'm looking forward to it.

and there's a restaurant called (I think) Fenwick Island Crab House..just after you leave Ocean City ...it's on the left hand side right after Fisher's popcorn stand btw...get popcorn there..fresh white cheddar popcorn..mmm...you are making me think a trip is in order!..(there's a mini golf course there also)..in with a little bunch of stores..right across the street is one of those Candy Kitchens..they had the most delicious crabcakes we have ever had..they were HUGE..it's usually crowded and a small place..but I would recommend it highly..

Fenwick is really nice but small. Its not too far from Rehoboth Beach which is up Route 1. There's a boardwalk up there, with lots of nice restaurants and outlets to shop in. There's also amusement rides and games on teh boardwalk. I know Bethany has a walk along the beach but i haven't been there in quite some time so i don't remember what's on it. The whole area is really very nice though from O.C. on up.

I just wanted to let you know that there is also a Disney outlet store in Rehoboth. Sometimes they have great deals. Have fun!

There is !!!! Is it in the huge Outlet complex there?

We were there 2 yrs ago and I don't remember seeing it - of course I was 6 months pregnant and more interested in maternity clothes at the time

We'll be going back to Bethany Beach the last week of August. I'll have to check out the outlets again - in more detail this time!

Yep, it's in the large outlet complex. The same one with Eddie bauer & the children's Place. There sign is huge. If you get on their mailing list, they will send postcard coupons to you.
