Anyone ever witness someone stealing something from a theme park store?

OT, but I once saw a robot blow up a suspicious item in Jerusalem. Wish I had pictures of that one!

I also said that I guessed that was why t shirts cost $34.99 because we were ultimately paying for the lost revenue & she shook her head yes…. It is just part of the csot of doing business…..

The t-shirts are priced at $34.99 because that's what enough people are willing to pay for them.

We were told in training that we were never, ever to chase, confront, tackle or beat shoplifters.

I realize shoplifting is a crime, but beating them seems a bit harsh. I can't believe the company needs to spell that out (who are they hiring?!).

Can you imagine, being banned from Disney for life for stealing some tchotchke??!! NOT WORTH IT!! :sad2:

Haven't witnessed it but have thought several times that it seemed unreal how easy it'd be to shoplift. Just to be clear - no, haven't done it! One time my ds, maybe 2 at the time, was trying on diff hats and as soon as we left the store I realized he was still wearing one while in the stroller. We were right outside the store so I just quickly brought it back in. Just last week we were all getting ears at TDS and the kids were already wearing theirs. The cashier seemed surprised when I told her that theirs needed to be rung up too.

At Disney last, my 18 month old was utterly convinced he could not live life without a Nemo Bucket from the Beach Club gift shop. I kept trying to persuade him toward the smaller, less expensive options. Realizing he wasn't going to win, he grabbed the bucket, sprinted for the cashier, touched his finger to the Mickey Head, and ran out the door. So... he /tried/ to pay...

I have to say this is the CUTEST "shoplifting" story I have ever read. That is one observant little stinker there!! Definitely doesn't fall into the actual shoplifting category but made me giggle. I can completely see a small child thinking that is how it all works.

Thank you for sharing!! :flower3:
