We're landscaping and are considering rubber mulch. Has anyone used this and, if so, how long have you had it? Would you recommend it? Any negatives to it? Thanks a lot!

This stuck me as very funny, you wouldn't have to worry about your plants reproducing or getting aphids!!!

Seriously, I have never heard of it, but anything to recycle stuff sound like a good plan to me, I wonder if it would start to smell like rubber when the temps got hot.

I havent seen anyone around here use it for mulch but I know of 2 playgrounds that use it. It's great for small kids since its so "bouncy" and they dont get hurt as often as they did on the gravel that was used previously.

We put rubber mulch mats around one of our trees. The only thing we discovered is that we had to stake them down really well because our dog found it - I think it smelled just like her toys! Other than that we haven't had it long enough to comment.

We used it for around our swing set/ jungle gym. Put it down about 3 years ago and it is awesome. I remember complaining about the price but we are extremely happy with the choice. My kids have fallen numerous times without so much as a scratch.

Mom, I too am interested in using it like you did, but I can't find a dealer or haven't tried very hard. Where did you find it?

I also would love to know where you found it, and an idea of the cost.

Sure. That's because when they hit the rubber mulch they just bounce! :p

We found it at the place we bought the wooden swing set. Which have since gone out of business. It was a place similar to the Rainbow Co which specializes in the wooded swing sets. I think we paid about 800.00 for the mulch and it is a pretty big
area.

And I don't think its too hard to find anymore, maybe even check Home Depot.

I know the Lowes' stores have it here. Fairly expensive to buy it from them though, $12 for a 3 cu ft bag. It is becoming fairly popular, so I would think any large garden or landscape company would have or could get it.

I just ordered some sample colors from a company I found on the internet called Rubberific. They don't have a dealer in my area but said that Lowe's carries one color. They'll also ship directly to my house if the color I want isn't the color that Lowe's carries. MOMTOMOOTOO - has the color held up well? Any fading? Thanks!
