I'm starting to look at car rentals for our December trip. We'll be staying 2 weeks. Part of the time we will be offsite and will need a car to get around. I was looking at some of the car rental sites and came across a company I've never heard of. SIXT Car Rental. So far they are the cheapest.

Anyone ever use them? Tell me about your experience renting with them if you have. Or share your stories if you've never rented from them, but heard good/bad things about them. TIA

To the best of my knowledge, this company hasn't started service in the US yet....should start next month if I remember correctly. Some have posted good experiences using this company overseas.

Explains why I haven't heard of them. :rotfl: Hopefully when they start up, someone can come back and comment on them.

I used them in February without any major issues, except the extra time it took to get to the car and on my way.
I would use them again but only if the savings were more than $50 or so.

We travel to Vegas often. You have to catch shuttles to the main rental station, so this isn't really a big deal for us. It's the same way in San Diego to.

Right now, compared to companies like Alamo, Hertz, Thrifty, Etc., the savings is huge. They are $300 cheaper than everyone else. We're going for 2 weeks so for us, this is a substantial savings. I'll keep looking at prices as we get closer and hope something better comes along.

Thanks for your input. More is always appreciated.

The savings were about $300 when I rented from them also, and my rental was only for a week. I didn't realize it at the time but it was also the week of the Daytona 500 and the NBA allstar game was in Orlando, plus some big name
concert.
I would say I spent an additional 45 to 60 minutes more time than renting from Alamo, which I usually do. But for $300 I'll waste an hour of my time.

Good Luck and have a great trip, hope you have a positive experience with SIXT.

I rented a premium size car on Feb 15 at MCO and returned it on Feb 25 to Fort Lauderdale and the cost was $69 including tax for all ten days. The tax was more than the rental charge. Every other car rental place was over $400. No problems whatsoever. Now that is crazy!!!!

If flights continue to look like they do now, we wouldn't be getting to Orlando until the evening. Wouldn't be able to hit any parks this day, so this would be ok for us. Especially to save $300. Thanks again for your feedback.

That is crazy. I booked with them for now. I'll keep on eye on prices, but right now they are by far the cheapest.

I am in the same boat as you. I have a reservation with them for the last week of October. They are coming in cheaper than National right now and I have a 200 certificate to use with my American express points. I am going to keep checking rates as we continue to get closer but am keeping my Sixt as the backup plan. We arrive on a Sunday late afternoon as well so the extra time is not so bad since we will just be stopping at the grocery store.

Can anyone tell me how far from the airport is the rental office? We used priceline a couple of times a few years back. Every tme we got hertz, when they were not at the airport, and it took forever to get to the office. DH siad it wasn't worth the extra savings. I've been to Sixt website and we are thinking about trying them, especially with the cost of our airline tickets, this would be a great savings. Will continue to look at Alamo. I've gotten some fantastic deals with them as my trip gets closer.

I looked up their location. According to Google Maps, they are about 3 miles from the airport. Have it listed as a 7 minute drive.
