Anyone ever use Mobile Magic?

OK so now I'm confused.

My son just got a phone that is on the list of supported phones. He had to get a minimum data plan for 9.99. So is he going to get charged 1.99 to download it.

I too was thinking that the 1.99 charge was what it costs to download the app on a phone without a data plan using some $ per mb charge.

Note: I do not know this for certain. But if you have the data plan, you are covered for the first 25MB so you should not be charged another $1.99 to download.

I used it in May and it really came in handy. When I am bored I go on to see what the wait times are like on my favorite rides.

I have Verizon, but not a phone that is compatible with Mobile Magic. Therefore, I was glad to see the Mobile Magic Texting functionality, until I read the FAQ and saw that you are limited to 4 text msg updates per day.

And info is the same vague info that you get on the mobile website. Mobile Magic Website

I'm confused? The data(wait times, etc...) that comes to your phone via the Mobile Magic App is accurate, but the Mobile Magic Website and Mobile Magic Texting is not?

I would think that all 3 would draw their data from the same source?

It isn't that it isn't accurate - it's that they do not give you specifics.

Wait times are either "See Now", "Moderate", or "High Demand".

Fastpass is either "Available" or "Not Available".

MM when used within the parks tells you the actual minutes and FP return times.

Its one of those you get want you pay for. If you want more accurate info you have to pay for it. :thumbsup2

Can someone tell me more about the lines application? I have BB storm and can't find it. What's the full name of the application? Thanks.

I don't know if there is a BB specific version - just an iPhone and Android version I am aware of, but for anything else there is a mobile web version:

Some dude was using some kinda app on the MK train and he was telling everybdy what the wait times were in Frontierland b4 we got off the train. It was AWESOME!! I told my mom I wanted that but she said that we didn't have that phone company so we couldn't get the app. We have AT&T. Is she right? Or can you get some kinda app for ours?

The official app (Mobile Magic) is only available on Verizon and only on their non-smartphones (so far), but he probably wasn't using that because it does not give specific info outside the parks.

Lines is likely what he was using, and it is available independent of provider. If you have an iPhone or Android phone, you can use the app, and anything else at least web-capable you can use the mobile web page (as just mentioned).

[ edit add : see I'm an idiot and misread something so fixing it, originally, I posted that the program itself cost 1.99/6month, this is not true, it costs 9.99/6 month ]
The program itself costs 9.99$/6mnth period for it's license of use.

Verizon will charge you, as per your data plan terms, for the data usage to download the app to your phone.

Specifically with Disney Mobile Magic, using the application shouldn't incur additional data usage fees, this is an exception from the general rules. This exception is also why you'll find a lot of conflicting reports [the boilerplate response isn't accurate for this application]. If you do find yourself actually billed [on your statement], contact Customer Service and talk to them about it, mentioning that the Disney Mobile Magic website itself says it doesn't incur additional data charges beyond downloading the app [ http://disneyparksmobile.com/faq/ ].

Why couldn't it be the Verizon app?

He was on the MK train heading to Frontierland so he was in the park that he was getting times for.

Thats the first time I have ever heard of a licence but it makes sense.

I don't think they ever refer to it as a license, but that's pretty much how all the apps on cellphones tend to work. There either use a subscription model or one-time purchase. Disney Mobile Magic is just kinda odd with it being a 6month non-recurring subscription.

Correction: $9.99 for 180 days

OK I give up. We just have to see how much its costs us on my son's phone with a data plan when we buy it around 6 months before my May trip. :confused3

Yea, we were in the park. We were on the MK train pulling up to Frontierland station. Thanks for info! We don't have Verizon :sad1: Mayb I can get my mom to switch b4 we go next?? :lmao:
