Hi

Time for me to lose the baby weight...

I have done Weight Watchers in the past but thought I might try something new -- I just read an article in First magazine about Somersizing (the Suzanne Somers plan that involves food combinations)

Anyone try it?

Like it - hate it? Hard - easy?

Does it work????

I just bought some of her books and am going to try it -- just looking for some input from others who have used it.

Thanks
Nicole

I have two of her books and have not done it myself...
My mom did a few years ago and she lost 25 pounds with it, but did not keep it off in the end because she went back to her old eating habits.
Her recipes are beautiful and the food delicious, but labor intensive and expensive. You've got to love to cook with her diet.
I love South Beach diet, it is a similar diet without the food combining restrictions. I use a lot of Suzanne's recipes with it and love them.
I just don't think that it is a long term solution unless you really stay dedicated to it and change eating habits for life. Many of her recommendations are good to incorporate and are similar to many other healthy eating plans, ie eliminate processed white flours and refined sugars.
Only you will know after looking through it if it could be something you would enjoy doing. I would also look at South Beach as well if you are willing to do the work for SS. Good luck!

I did and it does work. I usually stuck to the low carb part of the diet because it was faster, but if you do eat carbs, it makes sense to follow what she says. I really liked it. Its easy once you figure it out. The low carb part is very much like Atkins so if you know that, this will be easy for you. I am back on Atkins now. I just had my really burnt to a crisp bacon and one egg. I won't be hungry until dinner but I will have lean ham and a slice of swiss cheese for lunch anyway.

Its low/good carbs. And IMO - anything low/good carbs is great. :thumbsup2

I did it. It definitely works, but it's very easy to gain that weight back. Her recipes are delicious. I recommend the earlier cook books since the later ones all require somersweet or her other products. While the necessity of combining food is debatable, the low carb-low sugar- fresh food approach she takes is worthwhile. JMHO :)

I know somebody who lost 70 lbs on it and has kept them off 5 years so far. Like South Beach, once you really get into eating in that way it's not particularly difficult -- at least as long as you enjoy cooking!
