Has anyone ever bought eyeglasses from Costco? Was it a good deal? :3dglasses

Yes. I have been using them for years. And they are very highly rated by Consumer Reports.

We buy my DD12's glasses there. She has a very strong prescription and they are good about keeping her lenses as thin as possible. We have been buying them there since she was 5, (before we went to a children's specialty place and was over $400) We usually have to go back every other month to have them straightened and tightened up and they do it without charge. Customer service is great, and the prices are the best we have seen. She gets the Transitions and I've never paid over $200. IMO I would highly recommend.

We have been getting our eyeglasses at Costco for years for everyone in our family. The glasses are always high quality and the service is great. Highly recommended them. Recently we bought my son his glasses for $150 - included the transitions lenses. The same glasses were $319 at our local store.

Yes, great deal and very happy. We went on-line for contacts for an even better deal, but stuck with Costco for actual glasses. Some people swear by Zennia?? something like that - for killer deals on-line for glasses.

I don't wear glasses, but I know my Mom has been getting her's from Costco for years now. She seems pleased, and I believe it's quite a bit cheaper.

I am wearing mine right now. I usually wear contacts, but a couple of times a year, for various reasons I have to put on the old glasses. Literally old - these have lasted me since 1989. Slightly dated looking, but still work beautifully. Even though I don't wear them a lot, they have held up really well with hardly any scratches.

If you wear glasses most of the time I highly recommend Costco. Their glasses are very high quality for a really good price.

However if you only wear glasses occasionally I would go with www.zennioptical.com

You can get a complete pair of eyeglasses for as low as $8. Shipping is $5 no matter how many pairs you order.

My family has ordered from both companies and have had no issues with either.

The savings on eyeglasses alone makes the membership worthwhile.

They don't have the widest selection of frames, but I can usually find something I like, and always very very reasonable in price. (They will put lenses in a frame from another store for an additional fee.) Their lenses are lowpriced. I can usually get two fully loaded pair of glasses for the cost of one at any other optical shop. (By fully loaded I mean thin, non-reflecting, no-line bifocals....and polaroid sunglasses.)

The service and guarantee are top-notch.

My husband wears glasses and gets them from Costco. He is very pleased with the selection, price and service. He also took in an older pair that he uses as a back up where the arm had broken off and the put a replacement arm on for free. The replacement didn't match exactly but he only uses them for driving so he didn't care.

Where are you finding better deals on contacts? I always get mine there. Love to save money on contacts if I could find them cheaper. :goodvibes

I've bought most of my glasses from Costco. Really great prices on designer frames and fair prices on lenses too. They usually come in much quicker too than the regular optical place I occasionally use, which is nice.

Been a member for over 10 years. The wife gets glasses there and likes the service, I like the cost saving over retail. They have great selections of frames and sunglasses

For me I found I did better on ordering my contacts from americas best eyewear as I have a discount program thru work for there. this last batch I got from one of online sites but the cost is pretty darn close to costco but since I have to order my scrip in I just go where I can get best price all around shipping and stuff.

Costco is great for eyeglasses, my husband works there, so we receive an eye exam and up to $150 in glasses or contacts with his insurance. We have to use the Costco eye center, but they are very professional and the quality is excellent. I'd go there even if he didnt have the insurance. And the glassed come back fast, like a week or so.

Another happy Costco Eyewear customer. I've purchased there the past several years & have been very happy. Sometimes their coupon booklet has a discount for a 2nd pair.

So $150 versus $15 per pair of glasses is a better deal to you. I've ordered at least 3 pairs of glasses from glassesunlimited.com and the quality was far superior than the last two pairs I bought locally for $300 or $200 each.

Interesting. I am amazed that you can get glasses that inexpensive...and another PP had suggested an online site for even cheaper. How did you measure (pupil distance?) for the lenses - did your eye doctor do it for you? What information did you need to send them?

Do you wear your glasses all the time, or just for driving, or a limited time. What kind of lenses are you purchasing? (On topic, did you get your $200 to $300 comparison eyeglass pairs at Costco, or somewhere else?)

I would like to have single vision lenses for sitting around watching television. That would be an excellent source and totally worth it for a second pair.**

PS - **I'm still pretty happy with Costco for my "I can't get out of bed without 'em" eyeglasses.

Yup! Two sons in Costco eyeglasses here - one wears his all the time, the other occasionally. I'm happy. And we have two of us in contacts that we buy there too. I looked at all my discounts available including the vision insurance but Costco was still cheapest.

My one wish for them: carry safety glasses. We still have to go to the eyeglass store in the mall for prescription safety glasses. One year our vision insurance was great with them, the next year they were $150 a pair (or so).

I found my pupil distance on the receipt from the last pair I bought at WalMart, but it's easy enough to measure it on your own. I just copied the prescription from my last eye exam to the order form, but you can also fax it to them. I just need single vision glasses, and wear them all the time. The last two pairs of glasses I purchased before I found Glassesunlimited.com came locally...one pair from an independent optical shop ($300) and WalMart ($200).

I purchased my new glasses, plus a pair of prescription sunglasses plus the eye exam for less than the cost of my last pair of glasses.

Selection is awesome - lots of designer frames on the cheap, plus some Kirkland brand frames for even more savings. I understand that their contact lenses are pretty cheap also.
