Anyone ever tried "Drinking Around the World?"

I read on some DMB that this guy drank an alcholic beverage in each Epcot country. That's a lot of drinking!! Is there anyone here who would try it or has tried it? Just wondering :sunny:
I personally couldn't do it...I'd be sick :rotfl:

It reminds me of an episode of Rosanne where the husband had a beer in like each country

On my 21st birthday, one of my best friends and I did it, though we didn't drink in "every" country and we don't do beer.

We had fiesta margaritas in Mexico, berry wine coolers in Canada, Blue Titanics (a special) in UK, white wine with lunch at Chefs de France, and some type of mixed drink in Japan in the lounge. I believe we had about about 6 drinks over about 6 or 7 hours. Nothing compared to some of my sorority sisters who have the "21 shots on your 21st birthday" tradition! Talk about sick!

Anyway, "drinking around the world" is a fun concept, but not to be taken too literally (ie you MUST have a drink in EVERY country) It's fun just to have two or three. :hippie:

A # of previous threads on this very subject--I'm sure you'll be hearing from some of those folks!

I'm sure this feat would be near impossible, except for hardened drinkers in one session during the Food and Wine festival in October!!
:drinking1 :drinking1:drinking1, :worried: :worried: , , , :faint: :faint:

The first time I only missed France and Mexico, but after the huge beer with dinner at Biergarten in Germany, I slowed quite a bit....and the second time, I got pretty wrapped up in Japan with sake and the UK with Guiness that I didn't make it anywhere past Germany...it's fun, but a big challenge to make it all the way through....we usually get side tracked in our favorite countries...

And as a survivor of the 21 shots on your 21st birthday, let me just say

Have fun if you attempt it, and be safe!!

We've tried it several times....esp at the Food and Wine Fest...never made it to each one, but did have more than one in some places!! Made for an early eveing though!

It's a tradition, right along with the monorail crawl...lol.

:drinking1

One of me and my wife's favorite things to try...never have made it all the way through!!!!

I usually start in Mexico with margaritas, and stay in Mexico with margaritas!!

Yes, I have done it and not one of my better ideas. I started in Canada at 12 noon and finished with a Marguerita in Mexico at 9Pm. We ate twice, once in the Pub and once in japan. It costs me and a friend over 300 dollars to do it and with the exception of Mexico we drank beer everywhere. :smokin:

I'm trying to imagine being drunk at WDW...it just seems so...so...WRONG! :rotfl2: What would Mickey think?! I'm sure I'll have Margaritas in Mexcio as I am a big margarita fan...but that will about do it I'm sure...it only takes two glasses of wine to get me tanked anyhow so I'm not much fun on drinking trips around the world! And may I just say that I too am a survivor of the "21 on 21" birthday ordeal...I remember very little of that night and when I woke up the next day everyone kept calling me "Mickey" ...seems I was wearing Mickey Mouse um...shorts and everyone saw them!!! :rotfl: :guilty: :rotfl:

My husband is looking forward to drinking different beverages in different countries when we go in Sept/Oct. He won't have too much though - he has to help me with our 3 children!!

I've always struggled with mixing drinks. We either opt for beer or wine, not both.

If we do beer, we get a draft Dos Equis in Mexico with lime, whatever the seasonal dark Octoberfest beer is in Germany, a black & tan in England, then finish it with a couple La Fin Du Monds (sp?) in Canada with our steak dinners.

If we do wine, we get a glass of sangria in Mexico, a glass in both Italy & France, then get a bottle in Canada with our steak dinners.

DH and I can definitely handle drinking (no kids), but we're practically crawling out of Epcot by the end of the day. I couldn't function and drink in every country...most countries, but not every one :)

Cheers!

It definately is a fun concept. Only drank at a few different countries though. My Sons-in-law (is that how you say that for more than one) on the other had did a pretty good job of drinking in almost every country. It was an early night for them!

Oh yeah.
Here's the secrets.
one beer limit per nation... I find I can get hung up in Norway. Love that beer.

Pace is everything. Moving too fast through the nations when "Drinking around the world" makes stupid things happen... even to smart people.

Rookies beware! This is not a tour for the 1st time beer drinker. One must have a "seasoned" liver.

someone else does the driving no matter how good you feel at the end of the day. This is a critical step. If I know we're going to "Drink around the world," we have a designated driver, take the bus system, or don't do it.

Drinking liquor around the world makes sleepy time happen before it should. I find it's better to stick to beer.

The slow pace makes this "not fun" for kids who are tagging along with the "drink around the world" party.

Seriously, this is not something anyone should do unless you know how your body will process the booze.

We do it every trip, but we spend 2 full days at Epcot and only do half each day.

I have accomplished this feat twice. The first was great fun - I was in peak condition (for drinking purposes) and had a blast. The second time, I was a little further removed from college and had lost much of my capacity. The result was not pretty. Very un-Disney. Anyway, decided never to try that again. Because I still enjoy the concept, my wife and I share the burden, which is very do-able.

My only difficulty isn't with my liver... it's my wallet! I can't afford to drink around the world. :rotfl:

Drinking arount the World Showcase is one of our trip highlights! But, we only drink wine, hate beer and mixed drinks...So for us, we share a wine everywhere we can - we usually start in Canada, then UK, on to France, then wine tasting in Germany, and a glass in Norway and we're out of luck...no more wine! So we are buzzed, but usually in OK shape by the time we depart. Always a great time though!

if I could, but I would be asleep after Japan.
