Anyone ever regretted getting APs?

For me I am a total Disney fan and an AP is a no-brainer.

My opinion is that if you have to justify an AP financially then maybe you are not enough of a Disney fan and you should just pay regular prices. For me I am a total Disney fan and an AP is a no-brainer.
Wow.

That's easy to say when you live 25 miles away like you do. I live 1280 miles away. I have an Ap, but I do have to justify it financially. It has nothing to do with not being a big enough Disney fan.

As others have said, if the math works out and fits the budget, then no regrets. But you have to be able to commit to enough park days in advance to really know the math will work out. I wouldn't get APs if I knew we were going once for a few days and then thought maybe we'd go again within the year. We've had APs for four years - not consecutive - and I only buy them when I absolutely know we'll go enough to make them a good value.
And yes, every time we have APs, we end up going at least once or twice more than we originally planned. So they are an even "better value!"

We have the weekday select. We are around 3 hours away and have made a week long trip, a weekend trip in October and another week long trip in a month. It was great for us. I will not be renewing the weekday select as the block out dates next year are numerous. We will look into getting an AP if we decide to go Spring break next year. I don't have any regrets.

Exactly.

Once there is airfare involved, hotel stays, etc etc, it's a, hmm, brainer.

We've had APs to WDW twice, for the years it made sense for us to have them.

We had APs to DLR three times, for the years it made sense for us to have them.

Disney APs are incredibly expensive. Especially when you can't get a state resident AP and you can't pay it installments.

I have never regretted it, but I do go more than I would have otherwise and as you know the resorts can be really expensive so just make sure you have multiple trips in the budget and I think it's worth it!

Just bought our first ever AP vouchers. We have a trip booked in full for April 23rd to May 1st. We have another trip partially booked (we have a week-long reservation booked with Hilton HHonors points in DTD for November so we can see the holiday decorations). We know we'll go again either February break or April break in 2016. Therefore, for us, 3 trips in a calendar year or less it only made sense,.

I also bought gift cards at Sam's Club to pay for the APs with. Helped to save almost exactly $100. The CM on the phone was super helpful redeeming them to cover the cost, it took 41 gift cards! He said his long standing record was 50+, but he had just done an 80+ gift card transaction a few weeks ago!

If you live in Georgia and don't mind staying offsite, an Annual Pass is well worth it. We are in the northeast corner of the Atlanta metro area and go for every three day weekend. Quick trips but enough to get away from life for a few days.

Thank you everyone for your input! We live in GA and would be driving. We have always stayed on Disney property but I was just looking at some duties in Kissimmee today that look pretty nice....agh! Can't decide on anything!

Even staying in Kissimmee the AP may be able to help you , as another benefit of having an AP is that you don't have to pay for parking at the theme parks. Since the current price of theme park parking is $17/day, it wouldn't take too many days for the price difference to pay for itself even if you stay offsite.

I did. It does come down to math. I am a local Florida person but when the cost began to be larger than the times I was going. I dropped it. I couldn't get over to the park like I used to and my trips became more stressful.

If you are going enough to use it where it makes more sense financially and your days at WDW are numerous, it is worth it. For me it made no longer made sense and it wasn't worth it.

We stay on and offsite depending on our needs for the trip. And I like having an AP even when offsite.
That saying, I always make sure I can take two trips with one.
For instance this trip we're going at the very beginning of june. Had I pushed it to mid june 2015, then I could know we would take an early June 2016 trip and APs would be a no-brainer. But w/ DD in high school we can't go late-May 2016 so I have to think would Spring Break 2016 or Christmas break 2015 be available?

Even if they aren't I might still upgrade ONE of us to an AP (me!!!! heh) IF I plan enough Table meals and factor in a Tables in Wonderland card.
So 8 days of parking = $136

Bringing the true cost of upgrading that one ticket down even further.

For me the 'worth it' is truly financial. I know what I like to do and when I can go, and all the costs are out there for me to put pen to paper (or cursor to excel!) and figure it out.

Even the dining plan I can figure out. I can open any menu to any of the restaurants we like and totally figure out what I will have and DH & DD. I know how I will tip and I know how the TiW card works so I can compare the two methods.

I also want to say that "I'm a bigger Disney Fan than you, so there!" is a bit childish.
