Anyone ever had waitlist come thru for Thanksgiving?

We just learned that our daughter (15) can join us for Thanksgiving -- her sister is marching in the parade. There will now be 6 of us and of course I only have a 1 bdrm. reserved. I called and there's 0 availability for a 2 bdrm. at any resort. Anyone had one come thru in the past from the waitlist so close to the time period?

If I opt to waitlist, do I waitlist for a 2 bdrm or for a studio? If a studio comes available would they give us a lock-off or do we have to have requested the 2 bdrm.? I'm not sure what to do.

People cancel ALL THE TIME.

Here's a little hope....

in 2008, we had a 2BR booked for Thanksgiving week (Sat-Sat). Due to circumstances beyond our control (DD14 in hospital for 17 days), we had to cancel. I can't recall when we did it, but we did it at the last possible moment so that we wouldn't totally lose the points...they went into holding. That may have been about 8 days out?

I have two waitlists for Thanksgiving week for AKV that I've had since 7 months out and still no luck.

However I'm not giving up hope yet. Last year I had our BLT waitlist come through for Chrismtas week about a month and a half before our trip.

I had a waitlist for Kidani and OKW for Friday and Saturday Thanksgiving weekend. I made it probably in mid May I think--and it came through mid-July.

We're also hoping for a 2-bdrm from 19-27 Nov. I'm willing to get both a 1Bdrm and a studio (6 going) as long as they are in the same area. My kids are old enough that I can put them apart from us.

Hi MichelleB, let me give you some thoughts of hope, because I definately got some Pixie Dust today!

We have a BWV reservation for a 2 bedroom, garden/pool view November 25-27th that I was lucky enough to get exactly at the 7 month mark. At about 5.5 months we got on the WL to add a day (which would be Thanksgiving Day) to our stay. After reading so much about calling and checking on inventory I started to do that, but was told the same thing as you; no 2 bedrooms available at any DVC for Thanksgving Day. I have been calling 3-4 times aweek. Well lo and behold I called today and a Treehouse was available for Thanksgiving! I was so excited I asked MS to snatch it up quickly. It was like getting an unexpected gift, I was so thrilled.

So based on everything I had read prior here, I figured calling couldn't hurt and it really turned out well for me. I know that is not always the case, however I certainly would give it a try. You never know what can happen, people do cancel all the time!
