Anyone ever had a rectangular pizza?

When I was a kid, back in the dark ages, Chef Boyardee had a pizza mix cooked on a cookie sheet. It was great. I still remember the taste. It used Pizza sauce not marinara sauce. Pizza sauce had it's own distinct taste. I have never found one like that since those days.

We can still buy Chef Boyardee pizza mix at our local grocery stores. My mom used to make them all the time.

So did my mother. There was also another brand whose name I can't recall.

I tried the Chef Boyardee kit a few years ago for nostalgia's sake. Sad mistake.

After going up to Detroit recently, it is only NOW that I had it pointed out to me that JETS Pizza is in our area! Granted it is a not close, but it is not too far to trek to get it.

Dying to get pizza there. LOL.

Pretty sure the Motor City has exported almost as many chain pizza franchises (of varying quality) as cars!

The rectangular style is definitely not as popular in my neck of the woods but we do have them and they're considered Sicilian. Occasionally I'll order a rectangle but I tend to go for the traditional circle pie so I can fold my slices like a champ.

Who remembers this beast from the 90s?

It was only $10.99 and came with 3 toppings.

I feel old now. :sad2:

:rotfl2:I soooooo remember the "Bigfoot" pizza!

We just had the BEST roman style pizza at the OCNJ boardwalk this past weekend. It was at La Scala.

Was it Kraft? I used to use these all the time until I got a bread maker and started making my own dough.

"Ledos pizza is square because we don't cut corners!"

And now I know what we're having for dinner tonight....

Yes. Sicilian and Grandma pies are rectangle.

Actually the pizza place I go to now makes them square so they used the same boxes as the round pies.

Sure. Every Thursday at school.
Oh the memories, it was Fridays by us and during Lent there was then the cheese option.. I can still taste it.. That pizza had a unique taste.. probably bad compared to "real" pizza but man I could eat a slice now! I miss that school pizza taste.

I live in the Buffalo area.

If you get sheet or half-sheet pizzas, they're usually rectangular or square.

Some places cut round pizzas into rectangular or square shapes.

Yup - there is a place in the small town of MN that made those giant square pizzas. Not sure if they still do, I haven't gone in there the last couple of trips back since everyone wants to feed us when we go. LOL

Was it good? I've been going to OCNJ for years (headed there next weekend) and always do Manco & Manco (still call it Mack & Manco though). I'll have to give La Scala a shot.

They need to bring it back! We should start a petition. I also miss the P'zone
