gift certificates? I bought severa for myselfl and would like to give out to my family have you done this, did you print out the cert on nice paper TIA?

I've used them, but I think of them more as coupons than gift certificates, because they come with stipulations, like how much you have to spend, not being able to apply the value to alcohol, including a mandatory gratuity..

Same here. I have also used them, but do not feel comfortable giving them as gifts. I have thought about it, but won't.

you can only use one per month so if you gave one as a gift, unless you knew for sure when they used it, you wouldn't know when you could use yours.

We have only used a few, but what would happen if you tried to use more than that? Does one not work?

Not trying to be mean , I use the certificates too, but I wouldn't want to receive them as a gift. I feel like it is a coupon as well.

I was going to give one to my brother and sister as a stocking stuffer and I would tell them about the stipulation I have no problem with that, but I dont think I would give them out to anyone else, but since I have never used any of mine yet I just wanted to know from you guys what have you done when you print them/or give them thanks.

Occasionally one of DH's co-workers will give him one that he's decided not to use. He just prints it out on regular paper, nothing fancy. I think he just over buys sometimes and then decides not to go. We consider it a sweet thing for him to do. I suspect he's lonely (older man, no wife, no kids) so I told DH if he does it again to try and invite him along for the dinner.

I gave one to my DN when she got married in addition to her main gift. We gave them cash, but also had a $100 restaurant.com gift card sent to them since we know they eat out a lot. If they don't use it, it's not the end of the world as I purchased it during the 90% off sale for only $10. But it could get them MANY discounted meals during their first year of marriage. I would not give it to anyone as their main gift, but think it can be a nice 'extra'.

The only way I could see giving them is if I gave them the extra $25 needed to pay for the meal.

You are a beautiful person to think of him.

I gave about 5 of 1them to my Mom & Stepdad as extras last year. They used a few. I only paid $2 each so no worries on my end. They tried a few new places and enjoyed them. I don't think I would give them to anyone unless it was an extra gift though.

There is a thread about these every year on this board! :lmao: Same thing, I won't give, I do give, I wouldn't want one....:confused3

I give them as an extra gift to family members and co workers every year. They've started expecting them now! I just used one today for a new restaurant in my area, they're priceless.

I am giving them to dh this year for Christmas, as a promise for a date night type thing. I had gotten a $75 credit to restaurant.com from a rebate site so I printed 3 $25 ones for local restaurants we have never tried. Since we need to spend a certain amount to use them its more like a coupon to me and I wouldn't give them as a gift to anyone else.

They really don't keep track of them, so you could use more than one per month, however, I don't think that they are gift worthy. They aren't like gift certificates that cover the cost of an entire meal, but pay a portion of the meal if you spent X amount of $$$. They are definitely in the coupon category.

Honestly I would never gift these unless I was giving them with a crisp $50 or $100 since they are really a coupon and not a gift cert.

We bought actual gift cards this year for our men's and women's exchange at a family party. People can then use those to log in and pick a restaurant and buy the coupons. During one of their 80% off deals we got $100 gift certificates for $8.

Also, they came as actual gift cards that were mailed to me.
