Anyone ever get "carry out" from Olivia's?

We stayed at Kidani earlier this year, and one of the things we enjoyed about that trip was room service. I realize OKW is not set up to provide room service, but I wondered if they are able to provide carry out from their kitchen off their standard menu. Anyone have any experience with this?

I think you used to be able to do this thru Goods to Go window - but it seems to me a few years back that there was alot of chatter her they'd put a stop to it.

The table service restaurants at Disney haven't done carry out for several years.

You can order pizza from Port Orleans, and they will deliver it to OKW. There are also several off-site non-Disney restaurant that will deliver to OKW.

You used to be able to order food to go from Olivia's menu at Good's to Go snack bar, but they stopped that when the DDP came along. Reportedly because people expected to be able to order table service to go food for a counter service credit.

That explains it! Another reason to not like DDP.

Chuck, is there a list somewhere of those delivering restaurants? TIA

I have never seen a specific list. You may want to ask at the front desk when you check-in.

I can confirm that Olivia's will not do take out. We were in staying in a one-bedroom last week & I came down with a terrible cold. There was one day when I really didn't feel like going out and dh tried to go to Olivia's to get something for us to eat.....even under the extenuating circumstances, they wouldn't do a to-go meal.

He brought back some very mediocre burgers from Good's To Go. We'd never eaten anything from Good's before.....based on what we got that day, it will be on my "avoid" list.

Yeah, Good's is what it is...nothing special park-like Disney counter service. It used to be better, too. But then Disney kind of standardized all the snack bar counter service menus throughout the Deluxe and DVC resorts, SSR being the exception.

Yes, another reason in the LONG list to HATE THE DDP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yes, the carry out stopped once DDP came along. In 2004 (before the DDP), when my DD was just 7 months old, we were able to order off Olivia's menu at Good's and DH brought wonderful meals back to our room for us, because DD was sleeping and we couldn't go out.

2 years later, along came DDP (and we were on it) and on our first night there, after a long car trip, we ate our dinner in Olivia's but DD, then 2, was tired and cranky and wouldn't sit still long enough to have dessert. So I asked if we could just have the dessert boxed up to go. The answer was a very emphatic NO!!! I was told by not 1 but 2 managers that DDP is only for people dining in the restaurant, not for taking their meals out. (I only wanted the desserts, for heaven's sake).

So many nice little perks went away with the coming of DDP.

I also dislike DDP .....it can be so so difficult to get ADR's unless you book 6 months in advance now and I don't always know my plans for dining that far out. Also lack of food options at OKW was one of the reasons we sold here and bought at AKV/BLT. But when at OKW, we used to use this restaurant for delivery to OKW :
http://www.giordanos.com/locations.html (I believe it's the Lake Buena Vista location that delivers to OKW). Our most recent trip to OKW (Aug 2009) we used a pizza place that had left a flyer in our door. In past years, OKW used to let the delivery person bring the food right to your door. But in Aug 2009 they told us on the phone when they arrived with our food that we had to come down to the lobby to pick up the food. It was POURING rain.....just a hassle. Not sure if they still make guests pick up food in the lobby, but it was just the straw that broke the camels back for us.........

Disney usually doesn't allow offsite vendors to go directly to your room. They have to come to the check in area and you have to pick up there. It's a security issue to keep unscrupulous people off the property. Anyone can put a pizza sign on top of their car and carry a box to a room and break in.

Don't use the flyers you get on your cars or under your door. They are there to steal your credit card number. Call the front desk (or stop by) and ask them if they have suggestions.

We had delivery straight to our door in January 2009.

It really all depends on what resort you are staying at. If your resort has interior corridors (VWL, BWV, BCV etc) someone would more than likely catch the delivery person before they head off to the room - however at resorts with outdoor room access (OKW, SSR) it would be much easier for a delivery person to bypass the lobby/front desk and go directly to you villa.

I think Disney's standard policy is no delivery to the door - however, that isn't always honored - just like the no solicitation signs that are posted still result in carry out order/delivery order flyers being placed under the doors!

It's on thing to have a policy, but it's another thing entirely to enforce the policy.

Hi....and no, won't ever use the flyers again. But for years, Giordano's/Papa John's/Dominos etc were allowed to come right to our room. SO CONVENIENT when weather is bad....child was sick.....room far away......just plain tired.....
I noticed in 2009, this was the FIRST time in many years they would not allow the delivery man to our room and we were very disappointed. It's different if you are in a resort with interior hallways....but at OKW, going to the lobby to pick up food is a hassle. IN fact, not everyone has a car so that would be the ultimate inconvenience. Just my thoughts.

But....this is a new policy. We were OKW owners for 9 years. Delivery people were always able to come to the door which was great especially since every trip to OKW did not involve us having a car. So this policy is very new OR for the 9 years we owned, it was just never enforced because I can't count the number of times we had deliveries to our room at OKW.

If I have to get in my car to go somewhere, I might as well just go out to dinner. What is a bigger inconvenience? LOL

Plus if I go out to dinner, the chances are higher that the food will be hot, prepared exactly as I ordered it, and not delayed by a deliver driver getting lost.

I have had pizza hut deliever to BC, BW and I think SSR.

Not really the same.. but never had a problem.

And they delivered directly to your room (particularly at SSR) ? And when was the most recent time this happened ? Curious. Thanks.

We stayed at OKW for April vacation and I was very bummed one night when I found out you can't order dessert for take out. We had been at DTD and I skipped Giardelli's because I wanted cheesecake from Olivia's. Nope, that didn't work.

But.. we had dinner there a couple nights later and they packaged up dessert for all 4 of us.. They put all the ice cream sundae stuff separate for DDs (sprinkles in one container, hot fudge in another etc) and DH LOVES their gluten free brownie! Plus I got my cheesecake :)
