you check in? We have always booked a Garden View at HRH, and always been upgraded to Pool View with our All Access Card. I didn't know if anyone has ever asked to upgrade to Club and gotten a better rate than if they booked it upfront online?

After seeing another posters pictures of Club Level, I must say I`ve been tempted to ask at check-in about how much it would be to upgrade. If there is availability of course.

But..........My DH has just vetoed that out the park. We have already gone to a King Suite this year......so I will be happy with that instead.

I`m sure someone will come along that has done just that and will be able to answer you :thumbsup2

(Melanie......that is a beautiful family picture you have there)

Thanks! I am just toying with the idea. We have always had the same plan every year. Early breakfast at The Kitchen, skip lunch then an early dinner. BUT with WWoHP open now, and early entry at 8am...we don't have time for a big breakfast. If we are in Club...we could grab a bagel and go! But right now...Club is $120 more per night than our Garden View room. No bagel is worth that!:lmao:;)

Club level doesn't really open in time for you to get anything and be at the gates in time for early entry. Rent a fridge, buy bagels and cream cheese, and get there early! :)

there were times in past years that a sign was up at the check in counter at hrh and pbh.

the sign stated you could upgrade to club for $xx. or $xxx.
"inquire at the desk."

the way i figure it was there were more club rooms available than standard rooms.

if they could get guests to upgrade for additional money to club, that would open up standard rooms.

the upgrade prices i saw were between $50 to 100.

melanie, you would miss out on that bagel as club lounge does not open until 7:30.

you would be late for your date with Mr. parry hotter then.......

when a hotel over books, this is a great way to upgrade some customers and still get those rooms filled and get money.

now the standard rooms are open for those that booked in advance.

if they can't get anyone to upgrade, i guess they move the later checking in guests to one of the other hotels or to a partner hotel.

when that happened to me years ago, i took the upgrade.

Last year, I hit the motherload.....upgraded to club....I ask, it will hold all 5 of us, right? Manager goes........well, I will give you kids suite with club access!! We took his picture for our scrapbook :)

Well Club opens at 7:30. We have coffee in the room. If we grab a bagel and go in the morning, we should be ok to get the IOA gates right at 8am. I know it will be rushed, but I think we can do it. Not to mention October isn't a very busy month. I guess asking is about all that I can do right? Quentina...that is SAWEEEET! I would love that luck.

when in october will you be there?

Hey Melanie, we'll be there the same time! We're going from 10/2-10/8. Haven't been there since'98 and that was just a day trip away from the motherland :rolleyes1 I am so excited to stay on site! I wonder if there is any disboard member meeting the time we'll be there? I never even thought of upgrading but after reading all this it's worth a try. Club level is nice but like u said no bagel is worth that much :rotfl:. Have a great trip and see u at the pool :thumbsup2

i'll be in the motherland first for a week but will be at UO tuesday 10/4 - 12.

Oh very cool!!! We bought the All Access Card from the Hard Rock Cafe. I have used that the two times we have stayed at the HRH and both times they upgraded us from Standard to Pool View. The clerk at the desk just asked to see my card! I love that thing. We also use it at the Hard Rock Cafe and get priority seating (although you can do that online before you go without the card) So if you want to have better odds on getting an upgrade (not Club upgrade) but Standard to Pool View get that card. I think it is like $25 and it includes a bag , a HRC pin and a $20 gift card to HRC.

I do believe I smell a mini meet as well!!! We met up with Bubba's Mom in 2007!

Ok, now I am definitely getting the all access card! Thanks! Would love a "mini meet" with you guys :-)

You won't regret that card. I called to see if I needed to renew the card...and they said NOPE! Once you have it...it works forever! I think that is a great $25 to spend! We are so ready to go....it is KILLING me not telling the kids. Hard to keep it quiet. Getting closer!

Same boat here!! Luckily we only have 3 weeks to go... but I am so afraid I'll slip and say something, especially now as I start to sneak pack!:rotfl: I can't wait!
We just got our All Access card 2 weeks ago (don't know why we haven't gotten one earlier)... we already booked club level, but I am sure my husband will flash that card anyway!

Good afternoon.

Can I jump in here and ask what an "all access" card is?
We're leaving August 11 for 5 days at Disney, BWV, then onto Universal Royal Pacific for 4 more nights. So very excited. Haven't been to Universal in years and years. Our son & his girlfriend who live on the other side of the country from us, are flying in to join us, they are BIG Harry Potter fans. I'm trying to learn all I can about Universal but haven't heard about this all access card before. Anyone want to fill me in on the details?

thanks much!
