I couldn't decide what forum to list this under, so I chose this.

I see that fort wilderness offers pony rides for only $2.00 per ride. Anyone have any details? Do the kids just walk around in a little bitty circle, or is it a little more exciting? Mine aren't old enough to do the $30 trail ride, so I hope someone has some info about the ponies.

Thanks!

PS: If you found other things at Ft. Wilderness that your young ones enjoyed, let me know. We'd like to try it out on a day away from the parks.

Thanks again,
Kerri

We have been to Fort Wilderness several times but with horses at home we never did the pony rides. On one of our trips we talked for some time with the CM in charge of the rides. I believe parents get to lead the kids around on the pony. You go around (winding path) the petting zoo. They do have a weight limit but I am not sure what it is.

We did this with our then four year old. She loved it. She can still tell you the name of her horse. It is just a small trail you walk around. The parents lead the ponies. You can walk around the resort there. I think there is also a petting zoo.

Parents lead the ponies around a path through the petting zoo. Besides the ponies and the petting zoo, you can see the massive work horses they use at MK. They are boarded at the stables at FW when not working. FW also offers a free movie with Chip and Dale in the evenings as well as a marshmellow roast for a nominal fee. Never have done it but hope to next visit in Dec

$3 per ride. Child must wear a CLOSED toe shoe. We didn't do them, got there a few minutes after 5 and were closed already. Saw the sign though. It's just a couple of minutes walk from either the bus or boat, right behind HooPeeDo (sp?).

Pony rides at Ft Wilderness are $3.00. We were there a couple of weeks ago. Parent leads the pony through a trail at the petting zoo. My "little" cousin weighs 80 lbs. and they gave her the biggest pony they had. She also enjoyed the petting zoo. The stable with the work horses is right next to the petting zoo. I believe they close around 5:00. The Campfire Sing-a-Long was a BIG hit. You can buy the marshmellows and 2 sticks and roast them. I don't remember the price, but it is very reasonable for Disney and you get a lot of marshmellows. Then a great CM comes out and leads a sing-a-long. Then Chip and Dale visit. We did not stay for the movie because it would not be over until after 10:00. The little one was quite annoyed with us because we would not let her stay. The Campfire is located at the Meadows Trading Post in the center of the property. The pony rides are located at the Settlement area near the boat dock. The Campfire thing started around 7:00 when we were there. Your little ones will love it!!! Our little one wanted to go back every night. Ft Wilderness is a welcome relief from the parks!
