I'm looking at the cruise i've booked (hubby's 30th birthday suprise) and 1 day we're at nassau, i didnt know this is where atlantis is, a place i have ALWAYS wanted to go to! I'm squeeling all about the house! Has anyone ever done this or been there that can tell me about it?? xxxxxxx

We did this last October with our family (DH, me, our kids: 15, 13, 10) and my parents. We booked through DCL excursions, but many on here do it on their own and say you save money doing it on your own. I liked the idea that the ship would wait for me if something went wrong if we went with DCL. LOL!

Everyone had a great time, even the grandparents!! All we did was the water park, no beach or casino though. We got a lunch voucher, which was fine for us. Weather was perfect and the crowds weren't bad.

We went to Atlantis while on our DCL cruise in March. We did not book through the DCL shore excursions. I booked the Comfort Suites on my own using their website. http://www.comfortsuites.com/hotel-paradise_island-bahamas-BS003?promo=gcsbs003&cam=int%27l_hotel_target_u.s.&cha=google&seg=bahamas_paradise_island&aid=6280561240&pkw=comfort%20suites%20paradise%20island%20nassau
There were four of us (DH, DS, DD and me) so it was much cheaper to book through Comfort Suites and take a taxi from the boat. I'd do it again in a heartbeat.

Atlantis was BEAUTIFUL! We really liked it and I can see why people stay at the hotel. All of the grounds and the pools were amazing. We didn't have time to do everything. I highly recommend it--and don't be afraid to do it on your own if it's cheaper!

Their are other options than the swimming thing. Yeah that's pretty cool I'm sure, but too much coin for me. Especially when I paid a little for CC and things like the Aquaduck too.

My family went a couple of weeks ago a booked the Discover Atlantis tour through DCL. It's a guided tour of the aquarium and then they let you loose to explore the property for the afternoon. You cannot access the water areas though.

We just did this the other day!! We did the aquadventure through DCL.

We were promptly led off the ship to nice a/c shuttles. It is a quick trip over to the resort. They give you a ten cent tour and off you go!

Towels provided
lunch included
lockers available, but we felt no need to use them
use of the pools, slides and lazy river and beaches
aquarium and grounds are just beautiful!

On the way back, we just went out front and a shuttle with a DCL sign was waiting there, however this time the seats were covered in plastic!!!

I could have used more time and we stayed until almost 5.

The lazy river that we went on actually is a ton of fun with rapids and slides. It took about 45-60 minutes to go around and we did it first thing.

There is a resort beach near the Baths Pool that is amazing.:cloud9:

We did Atlantis through Disney last year on our Nassau day. The highlight for me was deinately the lazy river- it was so wonderfully relaxing! I've always wanted to go to Atlantis, and I think seeing it on a cruise was a great way to do it. To be honest I don't think I would actually take a stand-alone trip to Atlantis, but I'm glad I can say I saw it!

oh wow, it sounds amazing!! i really want to do it, we looked into it for our honeymoon but it was too much money :(

as you booked through comfort suites, did you stay over? we are only there for the day :)

You just check in (and out) at Comfort Suites... but booking a room there gets you 4 armbands to use at Atlantis pools/beach. We have done this twice, very easy and much cheaper, plus I like being able to come and go whenever you want, not wait for a huge group. We absolutely love atlantis, the architecture, the pools, the beach, the food, you name it, just absolutely stunning!:thumbsup2

thank you for this, do you remember roughly about how much you paid for it? (or is that really rude to ask?) i will definately look into doing that instead :)

Our son will be three when we cruise in october. will he be too young to do the lazy river?

We did the Discover Atlantis Excursion last December and really enjoyed it! It was a guided tour of the aquariums and afterwards you had time to wander around on your own. I highly recommend it!

I just booked for this November at the AAA rate and got the Comfort Suites room for a total of $258.

For Dec 16/11 it is $312 all inclusive. Do you think that rate will go down for December? We have CAA/AAA

Can you just go to the Atlantis to gamble? How long does it take to get there withot the DCL excursion. I suppose we'd have to get a taxi right?

Yes, ANYONE CAN GAMBLE !...water taxi is $3 per person. Make sure you have a tip of some kind. They harass tourist badly for that tip ! A little walk after you get off the boat ....

A cab is $4 per person, but cabi s direct .

I really don't know as I have no previous dealings with AAA and Comfort Suites by Atlantis. December is a big holiday month. I would just keep checking.

Good luck!
