I LOVE bass fishing and was wondering if anyone has ever fished there before? If so, how was it? I can't find very much info on it through the web or the planing videos. I guess I should just call and ask about it. I've been to WDW about 5 or 6 times and I've never done this before and I thought that on my next trip, which will be sometime in 2006, I would try it.

Oh sorry :rolleyes1 , hello everyone. I'm new here. I've been reading the boards for a while now and decided to join in. Thanks for any replies.

we go bass fishing at WDW every year...

i actually think there is something about it on the official WDW disney website..

in any case, for the guided fishing expeditions you can either go out on the lake that the MK is one, or the lake where the BC/YC/ Boardwalk are..

we always go out on the lake that the MK is on..

you rent an entire boat and are entitled to take a certain number of people (you pay by the boat)..

you also have to pay for any live bait you use (i can't remember how much it is)..

you're out for about 2 or 2.5 hours.....it's catch and release..

the guides (driver) are great..

call 1-407-WDW-Tour or WDW-Play....i can't remember which number handles it...

it's expensive but fun..

since it's catch and release the fish are HUGE.....

you can be picked up at any of the hotels there...(even if you're not staying there)..

before last year we were always picked up at the Contemporary....but last year we stayed at the GF so we got picked up there...

I went on a fishing trip from PO about 5 years ago. This trip you paid for each person ( around $60.00 per person ) the boat leaves with however many people are signed up 1 or 5. It is approximately a 2.5 hour trip catch and release.

It travels down the river to OKW, SSR and DTD. I think they still have it and its the only trip singles can take with out buying the whole boat out.

The down side is they it's not in MK or Epcot area.

Not sure if they have changed things or not, but I know that on our last trip, 2003, there was a boat with people fishing off of it right at the dock for the ferry as it pulled into the MK. First time that I had ever seen it and I remember looking down into the water and there were a lot of fish right at the dock.

I would try the 1-407-WDW-PLAY and see if they can help.

We went 7 years ago while staying at the WL. A guide picked 5 of us up at the WL dock on a pontoon boat. Everyone caught big large-mouth bass. :fish: All catch and release. We had fun. It was expensive + we gave a nice tip to the skipper. :goodvibes The men-folk thought it was worth it. Us women-folk enjoyed it too, although it may not have been our top choice, :teeth: We would do it again.

My Hubby, son, Father, and Brother did this years ago out of BW or Yacht & Beach and had a blast plus it went into Epcot's "lagoon!" My husband preferred this one. :flower: Oh yea, everyone caught a fish. ;)

We did this in Feb. We had a great time! This was one of dh's favorites of our trip. We did the 7 am trip from WL. Dh caught the first couple of fish, but I caught the biggest!!! I think we will try to do it again on our Dec trip. It is kind of expensive but then so are a lot of other things to do at Disney. Our guide was Jody Jones he was great!

Thanks everyone for your help. That was just the kind of info. I was looking for. Great help! I will be doing this on my next trip, so I am glad that everyone else who has done it had such a great time.

My DH and DS's are also fishermen. They want to "drop a line" everywhere we vacation. So far they've not tried inside WDW.

We are staying in a rental villa for the second part of this coming trip. I was looking into Lake Toho (south east of WDW- not far at all) for the guys. It sounds like a fairly good spot. They have several tournaments there every year. They may try that.

We did the 2nd time slot from the Polynesian for our family of 5. Our guide was excellent, helping bait and unhook the fish and even helped with pictures. We always talk about it and how mom caught the most fish!! Expensive but well worth it.

I do my bass fishing over at Rose & Crown Pub in Epcot; I catch mostly pints!!
:drinking1 :rolleyes1 Sorry I couldn't resist!!

We went to WDW waaaay back in 1989, my son was 9 at the time and we were luckily on the Grand Plan for this visit. This was included on the plan and hubby and son love to fish.

Our Guide Frank, (remembered his name) was so gracious and fun to be around, and we caught so many fish, I have great pictures of our son holding up the large bass he caught. Too many to count.

He had such a good time we scheduled a second day later in the trip and caught even more, and like someone said above, the fishing was great right where the ferry leaves for the Magic Kindgom crossing.

I was glad this was included on the Plan!

Have fun:
Carol

CrazyMomof4, thanks for all the links! My friend and his father visited lake Toho last year and they had a great time. The only draw-back on thier trip was that the fishing was only good with live bait. That's ok, but I would just rather fish with artificial baits. They caught a 9 pounder!!!

Thanks to everyone else for your replies. Keep them coming! :teeth:

I was wondering if anyone has ever shared a fishing trip with someone on this board. We are going in November and I know that my husband would really love to go fishing, but that is an awful lot to pay for just one person, as I would most likely not be going with him.
Thanks, Brenda

Thanks, Brenda

We are going in Nov too and I'm bumping this up :Pinkbounc
Brenda when are you going? :goodvibes

We were at WDW in January a few years ago. My husband took a day trip up the St. John's River with an excellent guide, Bob Stonewater. He caught several big ones. Had a wonderful time. I think it was two or three hundred bucks for the day. Would have been cheaper if he'd had someone to share with. Bob has a website--I think it's his name .com. We highly recommend Bob.

We're going November 2-17 :goodvibes , can't wait. It will be our 10th anniversary.
