We're heading down this Saturday and the price for a car off the aisle has dropped to $114 for the 4 days we'll be there. However, the price of a guaranteed full size off Emerald Reserve is still holding at $131.26. I know it's not a lot, but the difference is $17 (which I could use as part of our vacation).

So what happens if I don't cancel one of the reservations and head down with both? If I get to the aisle and there is a full sized car (like an Impala) I'm fine. If all they have are Malibus or G6s, then I can head over to the full sized line and take something that works. However, what happens if I don't use the other ressie? Anyone had them charge your card? I'm an Emerald Club member.

Thanks!

Hello fellow Jerseyan.....

I'm not sure, but I think they can charge you for the no show of the second ressie. I always cancel.....

There was another thread about a week or 2 ago that discussed this same topic. You may want to do a search on it. (I'm in work, otherwise I'd do it for you.)

Good Luck!

I think that might have been ME!!!
I asked the same sort of question, and didn't get a confirmed answer.
I have the exact same ressies as you. I want to keep the Emerald Reserve because I need a bigger car ( 2 adults,3 kids). But , if there is an upgrade on the Emarald Isle, ( like a minivan .... :cool1: ) even better! The price difference between them wasn't much different ,which makes me want to keep the E Reserve. Is the selection as good on E reserve as E Isle? I know you get the car you reserved on ER, but are there ever upgrades or differnt choices? Someone suggested keeping the ER and ask to check out the EI ( just in case) . Can this be done? Any input would be appreciated!.This is the first time renting a car so I don't want an extra charge. Also an Emerald Club Member ( which means they have my credit card info!!).

They can charge you for the ressie you do not use. You may get an email a few days before you leave advising you that you have more than one reservation for the same dates.

I have always booked what I know I will need. In other words, if you NEED a full size, then book it. I would book the ER knowing full well I will be guaranteed a full size. It's nice to save a little money, where you can, but having 2 ressies may cost you money.....

I pulled this off National's website:

When a customer books a Guaranteed Reservation and does not rent their car, a No-Show fee may apply.

If the guaranteed reservation is canceled at least 24 hours prior to the anticipated arrival time there will be no fee charged.

If the guaranteed reservation is canceled less than 24 hours in advance, or you fail to pick up the car, a no show fee of $50.00 (includes applicable taxes, surcharges, and lessor fees) is charged to the credit card on the reservation.

Guaranteed Reservations are required on all specialty vehicles, such as minivan, 4-wheel drive, and convertible car classes at all Corporate locations and at participating licensee locations.

BAsed on the above, I'd cancel one of the ressies prior to my departure. Just my opinion.

Since National has your credit card number, I would be a little nervous. That $17 savings may cost you more than you are planning. I would make a decision, either take the sure thing or go with the gamble.

Yes, you are all right.
I'll cancell the EI later this month ( it was such a good deal compared to prices now!) . I'm just so new at this , it makes me nervous to cancel.
The EReserve ends up being an even better savings . I checked today and the price has DOUBLED from when I booked.
( I booked at $324 for 2 weeks- SUV all taxes in - and they are now asking $648 for the same thing today!!)
Glad I booked when I did.
