Anyone else's DH not want to wear matching shirts???

My DH didn't want to, but he did it for me and he LOVED it. We got so much attention that day at DHS during the parade comments from the green army guys about us being the tie-dye army. He wanted to wash them and wear them again later in the trip, but we never did. Now that we're home, he's back to not wearing it.

The only one my dh will wear is the one he bought for himself and the kids at SWW. He left me off the list though, LOL!!! Just as well, I hate t-shtirts.

I am a DH and I wore a matching shirt on two occasions.

One was OK (at Universal, wearing shirts that said "Thing 1" through "Thing 9". There were nine of us).

The other was very embarrassing. We got snickers and rude remarks from other people at WDW. It was a stupid blue shirt with a pelican on it advertising my MIL's quilting business.

I will never, ever wear matching shirts again.

I asked dh if he would wear matching shirts on our next trip (we've only been once before) - and he said yes !! He said that it was Disney, he wouldn't do it in the real world, but at Disney it was OK !! I was shocked !! He's 54, and was really wary of going to Disney for the first time last year - but he absolutely loved it, insisted we go back this year, and is already saying we have to back again in a couple of years :):) I haven't asked ds6's opinion - he gets no choice in the matter :rotfl:

We would never wear matching shirts. My IL wear the same t-shirts all the time, ones they bought while travelling. My MIL hates it but goes along with it to please FIL. I would never ask DH to do this.

For us, the plan for matching shirts is a safety issue. My shirt (I'm Dad) will match the kids' shirts so that in the event they get lost, all they have to do is look at their own shirt to know what Mom and Dad are wearing that day. It should also make it somewhat easier for DW and me to keep an eye on DD and DS. Heck, I'm really tempted to just go with the most obnoxious, brightly colored, shirts I can find.

I am not a fan of the whole matching shirt thing and I know DH isn't either, so this will NEVER be an issue with us :goodvibes

Maybe since I am a twin and always hated being categorized as part of a "group", I am oversensitive to this (although my mom never dressed us alike that i know of). I will never ever dress my children alike. I just find it really corny, but to each their own ;)

We are one of those family that wears matching shirts. My Dh helps make them. My DS 16 is the one that questions us wearing them. We have gone twice last year and wore matching shirts most days. We have been picked many times to open the parks...my avatar pic is us opening MK...we have stick figure family, mickey head with everyones favorite character, potato head cpl with alien kids, and the tie dye mickey heads. :rotfl:

I wouldn't ask DH. He'd think it was dorky and I'd agree. Now I am going to get DD all dolled up. And I may do a shirt for me. But most men just aren't into that stuff.

We do not do matching. Instead we "coordinate." That means DH and oldest son may both wear red polos, but not the exact same with a logo or Disney character. Youngest DS may wear a red and navy striped top and I'll wear some top with read in it. I like to coordinate for the photos, as I scrapbook. I know that's "over the top," but hey I have fun with it.

My DH is a polo shirt wearer, so I just go in his closet, pick out his nicest shirts and base the rest of everyone else's wardrobe to go with his.

For Chirstmas DH got me and DD matching tinkerbell pajamas from the disney store online. I saw them and thought they were cute! She is 4 so she thought it was really cool. I saw the mickey father son shirts and DS6 was excited, but DH did not go for it. They had the minnie mother daughter so I thought we would look cute. If they go on sale I will ask again. If not that is okay, too. Once they are older I could see where they would think it is not cool.

Maybe he could wear a shirt that is color coordinated with everyone else's shirts, but not the same?

Honestly, I didn't think about asking DH on our last trip - I just packed. I wasn't trying to be sneaky...but what was he to do?;) We all wore Mickey or Minnie shirts one day, etc., and he just smiled. Granted, he wouldn't wear his Mickey shirts at home - they are just for vacation.

We made the mickey tie dye shirts for all 8 of us last year and my DH had no problem wearing it. we got some great pictures and it was alot of fun making them. OK, it does sound alittle corny but we are planning on doing it again for our trip in nov. We will mickey tiedye white hoodies in green and red. It is Disney and the world is a different place there...:thumbsup2...so If you see us in Nov, pls say hi....

Oh, since, as I mentioned, I'm the holdout in the family, a couple ideas.

One, if you can get cheapie polos or normal Ts, you can do a *small* design for the "logo" area on the polo, or on pocket of a pocket T.

Or you can do a button, the size of the "celebrating" buttons at WDW, to wear to coordinate.

Those are things that I would be willing to do, to go along with DS and DH's matching desires, and perhaps it would be good for some hesitant hubbies as well. Probably won't work who would rather have their bits and pieces gone than wear a matching shirt, but for those who aren't quite so extreme...perhaps it's an idea.

I wouldn't even ask DH to wear matching shirts. I dress the boys alike a lot at the parks so they are easier to spot.

I go for colors that flatter each other and will look good in pics. All white shirts, polos or t's, even if there is a little print on them, with tan shorts. Bright color tops with black bottoms. The photos turn out so nice that way and I don't get guff from the boys or hubby.

My DH thought it was fun for us all to wear matching shirts, but my 12yo and 10yo DS's were hesitant. Our compromise was that we would only do it one day of the trip (the other days I just tried to color coordinate so it would be easy to keep track of everyone) and I used the disneystore.com create your own shirt thing to make Perry the Platypus shirts, everyone in our family LOVES Phineas and Ferb and the shirts went over really well. I personalized them by putting "Agent L" for Luke and so on with everyone's initials.

When I first talked about matching shirts my 12yo suggested that he would be more willing to wear something close to what everyone else was wearing, like the same picture, but on a muscle shirt.

When we went with my parents last year, they were very concerned that our family was going to stick out with all matching shirts. I had to laugh as I knew that we were going to blend in with everyone else! They realized after, I was right.

Not sure if they will play along this time though!

My DH just said if it gets him some extra time with the princesses that is what it is all about!

We didn't do matching shirts last year, but I am already up to 6 days worth of matching shirts. DH doesn't care, even said they could be bright pink, it is all about the kids and having a great time.

I should also mention we were married barefoot on the beach in St Thomas at sunset wearing matching outfits. :rolleyes1 DH's shirt was the same print as my tank and wrap around pants. Ditched the clothes we brought and paid a whopping $35 at the tent market place down the street.

We are making matching shirts for our trip, DH is getting the shirt on it that has Grumpy saying I don't do matching shirts.
