My daughter has been in Irish Dancing for 2 months now and she loves it. We have one school in the city and we've seen them perform everywhere. I know from research that this can get very expensive, but I guess most activities and sports can get expensive. Once she starts performing and going to competition, you have to pay for the dresses, the hair, the tiaras and all. She went to classes in socks for a month when she first started because I wanted to make sure it was something she wanted to do before I bought the special shoes (Ghilles). I got a brand new pair for a great price on ebay and she was thrilled. Of course she is still learning all the basics but I peeked in when she was at class last Wed and she was really Irish Dancing! It melted my heart.... so cute. Classes start when you are 5 and my younger daughter turns 5 next weekend and all she is talking about is starting Irish dancing, I can't believe i'm gonna have to afford 2 of them... yikes. Classes are $48 every month... so i'll be paying $96 a month for Irish dancing.
So does anyone else have an Irish Dancer in the family? What level are they at? I think this is something we are gonna be doing for awhile so i'd love to hear from other parents.
I should add to my signature #1 Irish Dancing mom! I've already bought an Irish Dancer on board bumper sticker (actually bought it when I didn't even have a car after the accident) and now with the new van, I don't want to put a bumper sticker on it already. I guess I can tape it to the inside of the back window.
