Anyone else worried about their stay at the Poly?

We got back about a week ago after nine nights at the Polynesian. We stayed in the Tahiti building ground floor. We made up Mousekeeping envelopes to leave for the maid every morning with a few dollars in it and a note requesting extra towels and washcloths. Never had a problem, but different people clean the room throughout the week. That is why we tip everyday-at the end of your trip a different person may get the entire tip and had never cleaned your room. Sometimes we had more than enough to shower twice a day other times only a few extras were left.

Our fridge froze up one day, but maintenance brought a new one in 30 minutes. The light above the fridge was gone, but was replaced halfway through the stay. Kinda strange.

Other than that our room was cleaned well everyday and new sheets to sleep in at night. We never leave clothing on the floor or beer bottles laying around the room. Some people just flat out trash their rooms-I have seen some:scared1: . Every time we have stayed at the Poly our room was clean and well taken care of. Hope that makes you feel better:)

we had a great housekeer, at POR building number 17. The lady cleaned our room every day, but when we went to tip at the end SHE didnt clean it that day! The lady that day ended up getting her tip :(

i felt soooo bad.

Just wanted to say my recent Poly review included some bad housekeeping comments. We did Tip $5 everyday and I also made specail envelopes for it. We also only got 4 towels a day one for each person. I think it depends on which building you are in and which housekeeper you have. We did have a male housekeeper which may make a difference. Now I'm certainly not someone who would throw sand behind a curtain. But really the dust was thick on the desk and Armoire and the fridge was a sticky nasty mess and so the coffee maker looked like it hadn't been cleaned in months. If you lie on the beds you are able to see underneath behind the headboard and thier were dust bunnies there. This was our second room the first was a bit worse. Of course this was all on check in. I agree with the PP and I do clean up my kids toys and we keep our room very neat. I was hoping maybe it would get better with the tips but we just got more toiletries instead :confused3 . Last year our room was cleaned OK, not great but good enough. They never vacuumed or changed the sheets until after 4 days I left a note with the tip to have the sheets changed.

We love the Poly as it is Disney to me and my kids and we want to go back there. heck my kids want to live there! We did let them know again at check out that our 2nd room was not cleaned properly. After we switched rooms I was tired of complaining and wanted to enjoy my trip. I just hope that managment does something about there lack of housekeeping. Our rooms at WL were spotless. I do expect any resort to have reasonably clean rooms.

I've stayed at the POLY twice within the space of 9 months and each time Housekeeping was great! Not to say it can't be great (we had one day where I swear the person did the bare minimum) but we never had any issues. And if we did, I'm the first to speak up about it. If you don't let someone know there's a problem, you can't even attempt to get it resolved.:thumbsup2

Can't wait to go back December of next year!

 Maybe you had our housekeeper that day.

Kaysmommie, I wasn't aiming at you. Not at all. Poor housekeeping is poor housekeeping, ain't no question. But I have read of Others doing such same and its always a source of consternation that people will deliberately dirty their rooms like they are travel book reviewers and then report back here that it was "lacking." Waste of vacation time and brain space to me, but that's just me.

I think if the dust is thick; the first thing you (not anyone in particular) do is get on the phone pushing the button that reads "housekeeping." You state specifically what is wrong with your room. You ask for some one to come and fix it. You can either wait or get on with your vacation but if its not fixed, then you call again and speak to a supervisor. Either that or you can grab the first housekeeping person you see and say, "Aloha, come see my room, I have a problem." Its basic adult behavior. Basic problem-solving. Its not complaining; its getting something necessary done.

10 nights peak summer: no housekeeping issues in Samoa, first floor.

Thank you for all the responses. We are staying at the Polynesian regardless and I will report back next month when we return. I am hoping for the best as we are staying in the Hawaii building

While I understand what you are saying, my opinion is that if I am spending hard earned money to stay club level in a supposedly deluxe hotel, I should not have to micromanage housekeeping. I kept hoping that after getting daily tips that our mousekeeper would at the very least wipe a surface. Instead we got extra products even when the original ones were never opened. I have no problem at all with reusing a towel or not having my sheets changed daily. I kept the room neat and organized. Other than making the two beds and replacing the towels daily housekeeping did nothing. We normally stay offsite but after having such a good experience on the Disney Magic we decided to try staying onsite. I have talked my husband into trying the Yacht Club or Grand Floridian next time. Hopefully we have a better experience.

We stayed 8 nights 10/3-10/11 also in Samoa but 3rd floor. I really wanted tokelau after we had to switch rooms but I let my DH handle the complaining. I was definately disspointed this year. Trust me I would never even look at light fixtures for dust but our room was a dusty mess. I don't expect anything more than a clean room.

During our 7-night stay, 9/22 - 9/29, we had no problems with Mousekeeping.
Samoa building - 3rd floor.
Tipped $5 per day - 2 adults and 3 children.
Kept room entirely clutter free - clothes, shoes, souvenirs, food and paperwork all had it's "place".
Received tons of clean towels each day.
Received clean sheets every day.
Received new toiletries every day - sometimes even multiples.
Almost every Mousekeeper we passed in the hallways acknowledged us with a pleasant "Aloha". :flower3:

I follow this post except we were in Fiji 3rd floor. We didn't get clean sheets everyday that I was aware of but sorry, noboby in my household gets clean sheets everyday either!! All I really expect is a clean room when I check in. I don't want anyone's leftover anything when I get there. I use my towels more than once so no issue there. Yes, I love my bed being made & the drapes fixed & towels rehung. Other than that, I keep my room as neat as possible. I don't leave dirty laundry & shoes all over the floor. We also tipped $5 a day. We also received "Alohas" from almost every cast member that passed us by. We had a great trip & are looking forward to returning in May. Bad service can happen anyway & for any price. Have a great time to all who are going & try to only sweat the big stuff!:)

In response to those who are quoting me:
I recently stayed a well-known 5 star hotel in Las Vegas - the fixtures on the drawers had been pulled off and broken and were lying on the floor. The table was wobbly. I called housekeeping and they sent some to fix it in 2 hours. This is a room that retails at over $540 a night.

I recently stayed at a Marriott in Newport Beach, Ca. Not sure the number of stars but there were dirty underwear thrown in the closet on the floor. And a spent condom under the bedspread on the floor.

I travel a lot. Sh*t happens everywhere. Disney is no different. You call. You get it changed or fixed. Life goes on.

We stayed there last month, we had no issues with any mousekeeping. The only thing I did was put "Hidden Mickeys" on the mirrors when they steamed up. Mostly at the very top! This wasn't to see if they were cleaned, they were for DW to suprise her, as she had just "discovered" the Hidden Mickey book at the store in the lobby!

My experience with WDW is that if you have any issue, Mousekeeping or otherwise, bring it to their attention, and they will take care of it as soon as they possibly can!

I also remember reading somewhere on the DIS board that sometime managers read the DIS board to see if there are situations they should address. (Don't know if this is true, or just another DIS'ers opinion!)

I also travel a lot and this was my first experience with a dirty room. Lagoon view concierge retails for $575 per night in the value season. The guests should not have to worry about a filthy room. If I was staying at a value resort I would feel the same way.
