Anyone else worried about their stay at the Poly?

We stay at the Poly all the time and have never had any issue's that were'nt taken care of immediately. We were just there for 6 days in August and they were completely booked solid and never had anything but wonderful service. Maybe we are just lucky, but don't think so as we stay here continually in busy time frames. I would'nt worry too much. If you have a problem they are great about taking care of it.

We were at the Poly in September and absolutely loved it. We always had fresh towels, bed made, and the basics taken care of. If there was anything extra we wanted we would have asked, but we were always tired when we got back to our room and just appreciated a "fresh" room when we entered. Maybe they didn't dust and sweep every day, I truthfully didn't notice. The rooms are gorgeous and relaxing. We had to call maintenance a couple of times for a ceiling tile problem but they came immediately and fixed it.

I've been worried about this too. The more I read the more I wonder if we should pay the extra $100 and stay over at the GF.
I'm glad to read some of the good things here in this thread!!

Of course, the $100 a night extra will not guarantee good housekeeping;) If you read the GF threads, there are just as many bad reviews about housekeeping.

We love both Poly and GF, but our GF room was not as clean as our POLY, BWV or POR rooms - it was beautiful, but not all that clean. :)

I wouldn't say I'm worried. I will say, if it's bad, I'll be very disappointed. For that amount of money, you should be able to drink out of the toilet.

I just got back a few weeks ago and we had no problems at all. My daughter had the stomach flu and basically trashed our room within a few hours of our arrival. They were more than helpful getting our room back in shape and even shampooed the carpet!

The bottom line is that you need to speak up if you have issues. They are in the hospitality business and they want to make you happy. If your room is not up to satisfaction, let Mousekeeping know. If that does not solve the problem, go to the hotel manager.

No worries:)

During our 7-night stay, 9/22 - 9/29, we had no problems with Mousekeeping.
Samoa building - 3rd floor.
Tipped $5 per day - 2 adults and 3 children.
Kept room entirely clutter free - clothes, shoes, souvenirs, food and paperwork all had it's "place".
Received tons of clean towels each day.
Received clean sheets every day.
Received new toiletries every day - sometimes even multiples.
Almost every Mousekeeper we passed in the hallways acknowledged us with a pleasant "Aloha". :flower3:

We were there 9/22-9/29. We experienced NO mousekeeping problems nor did my parents who had an adjoining room. We stayed 2nd floor Tokelau and had the same mousekeeper all week. We tipped her on our last full day. All in all it was a wonderful visit!!!:goodvibes

WHEW....thanks to all the DISers posting their positive experiences! It has truly helped set my mind at ease a bit!! :thumbsup2

I am also one of the "worried ones"!! We leave in 6 days for our first Poly stay(Hawaii GV). I had to talk my family into this because they are all loyal to AKL. I am hoping it doesn't come back to bite me!!! I will never hear the end of it if our room has issues.

We've been staying at the Polynesian for 20 years now. Honestly, we've never had a housekeeping problem. I do recall one trip where the light fixtures flanking the mirror in the bathroom were really dusty, but the design of those pre-rehab fixtures made them dust magnets.

Some people do not realize that bedding is not changed every day. Hotel industry standard is every 3 days and at checkout. I know some have posted that they got clean sheets every day, but that would be an exception.

I have to laugh at some people who post things like " there was cereal on the floor and the housekeeper never picked it up". If I was the housekeeper, I might think that "these guests are slobs and I am not going to pick up after them!"

If you do run into a housekeeping problem, SPEAK UP while you are there and give the resort the opportunity to correct the situation!

Just remembered there was a card in the bathroom stating to conserve water if you want your towels replaced leave them on the floor - if they're hanging up they will not be replaced. I also read in the paperwork they gave us at checkin or maybe it was another card (I can't remember) - they only change sheets on the 4th day (and of course after check out) unless you request otherwise. So for a 7 night stay the sheets would only changed once. So if fresh towels and sheets are something you want replaced everyday you'll need to let mousekeeping know.

there are always negatives and positives about ALL the resorts, transportation, crowds, rides, etc.

I take it all in. I also like knowing the negative and positive.

I know POLY is expensive for Disney, but for the rest of the world, not so much really, when you consider the location....it's like being on the prime beach on an island and then you add more based on view...just like at the Poly.

I'm paying for location alone... I don't expect the Ritz...heck I'd be paying a LOT more for the Ritz.

4 days until we go!!Woo hoo.

This is very true. My sister was so excited for us to be staying at the Poly. When I got home she asked me how the rooms were. "Were they luxurious?"
And frankly, no they're not - they're comfortable w/ok decor. I compared it to a Embassy Suites w/o the second room. What we paid for was the convenience of the monorail, the proximity to MK & location (beach, etc.). She still wants to go someday but was a little disappointed. Disney deluxe hotels are not like the real world deluxe hotels at least in my opinion. GF may be the exception I haven't stayed there.

Personally, all I expect from mousekeeping is a clean room upon checkin (this is a must!) and then as long as the basics are met I'm fine. But personally - if my child dumped cereal or had there toys everywhere - thats my child's (or mine) responsibility to clean up not mousekeeping.

I've stayed at the POLY twice within the space of 9 months and each time Housekeeping was great! Not to say it can't be great (we had one day where I swear the person did the bare minimum) but we never had any issues. And if we did, I'm the first to speak up about it. If you don't let someone know there's a problem, you can't even attempt to get it resolved.:thumbsup2

Can't wait to go back December of next year!

I agree. I just really want the room to be clean when I check in. Some of the posts are not reflecting that. I am fine with not having the sheets changed during my stay, heck I don't change them that often at home!!:rolleyes1 Just make sure all is clean from the last person when I get there!!!

The room being clean on check-in is what's really key for me as well. The fact that people were able to draw pictures in the dust upon check-in is UNACCEPTABLE.

I agree that the primary reasons for the high price tag of staying at the Poly are location, convenience, amenities, etc., however, clean rooms should be a given regardless of where you are staying, and should not be better or worse depending on the level of your accomodations.

I do not have any unrealistic expectations, such as fresh sheets everyday, picking up our personal belongings, etc., however, I do think the room should be dusted, vaccuumed everday, and the bathroom should be spotless.

I agree 100% with you.

Not worried. From our countless stays we have not had an issue. If we needed something they responded.

It seems that people are complaining about housekeeping from all the resorts. I had wonderful housekeeping when I stayed at the Poly. I asked for extra towels once, and had extra towels the rest of my stay I think the more people actually tell the resorts about their unpleasant housekeeping the better for everyone. If Disney doesn't know about these complaints, they can't fix them. For the most part my housekeeping with all the resorts has been ok, and I have actually had the best housekeeping at the Poly.

I think if you voice your concerns when your having the problem they will make sure it is corrected. I know I have read many threads where people wait to get back to complain. That may make you feel better in the end, but if they would have spoken to management at the time it more then likely could have been fixed right then and there. I travel a lot and stay at many different locations and have gotten what I consider 1/2 rate service at many 4 start hotels. In most cases they jump at the chance to fix it as not many want the bad comments when all is said and done.
