anyone else work for Mass and waiting for the proposed budget this Wed?

Yup, its in the papers that Romney will give his proposal this Wed.
IF there is a 15-20% cut to the libraries, Im up the creek! 15% would mean going to 21hrs for us. 10% would most likely be 28hrs which could be a little more liveable.

My mil works for a library and my ds works for the state in mental retardation. He should be fine, but her, we don't know. Hope everyone here stays fine!!

I know the budget needs to be cut, but all the cuts that Romney is making are kind of scary. The schools are in bad enough shape and he just keeps cutting. I wonder when it will stop. Although I won't be affected with a job loss, I do have school age kids that are feeling the pinch. I already lost one of my jobs due to the poor economy. Hope the cuts are minimal and you get to keep at least your 28 hrs.

Yes I am worried about the schools too. DS is in the 5th grade of our town public school.

I work for Boston Public schools and am waiting...already have felt the cuts here as we are loosing 10% of our staff...crossing my fingers, but something has to be done

We just went through 1 round of cuts a month ago. The fulltime 35hr staff went to 34. One fulltimer went from 35 to 28. Parttimers lost 1hr also. One of the fulltimers went to 28. One of the 15hr parttimers lost his job. A 18hr parttimer went to 6hrs.

This was just a beginning. More to come fiscal year 2004 starting July 1st.

Yup I'm waiting too. I work for a non-profit and we are getting pounded. The families we work with who have a family member with a developmental disability are really getting hammered. So much for not cutting essential services. What exactly does Mr. Romney think an essential service is?
