I suffer from fibromyalgia and was curious if anyone else is blessed with this condition. If so, how do you manage at the parks? I finally gave in and started using an ecv. I learned the hard way after a trip in April when I could barely make it to the car after touring EPCOT. Never again! How about the sun? Does that bother you? We are heading down in February and I don't know what to expect with that. Is the sun as bad in Feb as it is in April or July?
So, how does everyone cope?????

For those who don't know what fibromyalgia is, here's a link that explains it.

i have had it for 19 yrs now! if you met me, you would never know i had it. i do everything everyone else does. i need no assistance. i am used to the pain, i take advil if it hurts too bad. i refuse to let it stop me from doing anything. :D

I have a question and maybe one of you can answer it, or at least point me in the right direction. Is fibromyalgia an inheritable (sp?) condition? My mother has it and I know how hard she works every day just to keep herself going.

And  to both of ya'll. I know it's not something that's easy to live with and I'm scared that I will end up with it myself. After the baby is born, I'm thinking of seeing a bone doctor (sorry..can't think of what they are called Osteo something...) to see if my recurring joint pain is early onset fibro or just some bad joint pain.

I have heard conflicting information about it being hereditary.

See a rhuemotologist (sp?) If joint pain is involved it could be rhuematoid arthritis or even Lupus.

I'm actually worried it's more early onset arthritis more than anything else, tbh. The ones that pain me the most (hips, knees and ankles) are the ones that took the most abuse in my growing up years. Nobody TOLD us we were supposed to wear pads, braces, etc when we were rollerskating or skateboarding, so of course when I fell I tended to injure my knees and ankles over and over again. My left ankle is so unsteady now that if I do not watch where I put my foot down when I step, I will fall over.

Oh and BTW..where can I read about fibro? I want more info. :)

In my original post I put a link to a good site. Also go to webmd.

Ok..thanks. :) I don't know how I missed that. Must be cuz it's early and I've had no caffeine in almost 6 mos (due to the pregnancy). ;)

With my fibro, there was no pain, no warning, beforehand. That is, one day I was fine and dandy, the next day I had a sudden sharp pain under my breast (thought I pulled a muscle) the next thing you know, everything hurt! Back when I got it (19 yrs. ago!) not many doctors had heard of it and it was 6 months and numerous doctors before it was correctly diagnosed. If you have fibro, you will ache all over, and feel tightness in your muscles.
