We had soooooo much fun with "Frisbee" last year, can't wait for him to come back!! Trying to get a list together for new things this year, anyone got any ideas they want to share??

A few of the ideas that went over the best last year were:

Frisbee decorated my GS's room while he was away one night, wrapped the bed in wrapping paper, put up large snowflakes all over, Garland and lights!

Frisbee decorated the whole kitchen with lights & candy canes

My Grandson talks about him all the time, can't wait for Thanksgiving night when he can come back!!!

My son is so excited for Elroy to return this year! He was asking about him just last night. Should be interesting this year. We are supposed to be moving in the midst of it all. Get possession of our new house the day before Thanksgiving. Elroy appears at our house the day after Thanksgiving. Will require some tap dancing, I think!! But we are looking forward to his arrival!

We are excited about Cricketydoo coming back this year, but I am a little worried. We are now living in Germany for the next few years, and I really could use some tips!

Any good ideas please post away!

We are elf-less. Mostly because we're kid-less and I don't think he would have much fun with just me and DH :lmao:

I think I"m going to start this year for my younger 2. last year I thought about it, but we think oldest has caught on and younger 2 would have no clue. Is it bad that I want my oldest to fess up that he knows....that way he can help us w/the antics, I think he'll have fun. But if he still believes in it all, obviously he can't help.

You guys actually got me thinking I should start looking for one to order. What is the actual website?" I know there was one on here last year. I saw one at the hallmark store last year, but would like to check out the diff elves.

Thank you!

I have been doing this for years! My parents did it for me & my brother when we were kids & my grandparents did it for all their children.
I use an Annalee doll, my mom used a small elf doll and my grandmother used a scary little plastic eld that was ALL red. It was kinda creepy.
It is a great family tradition!

I too got an Analee doll. I'm worried that we are going to miss something without the book. My DD is 21 months so this is our first year doing it. Do you think I should try to get the official book or just save my money.

We've never used a book. We just take the old traditions and then add news ones for each generation. Our elf brings the kids special XMas jammies for xmas eve, and a special "Santa" key so taht Santa can get in the house. Just make it up as you go - your DD isn't going to know the difference. :)

My cousin gave us an Elf on the Shelf in a box with a book, but we haven't opened it yet. I had never heard of it before, and am looking for some good ideas!

But you don't really need an "official" elf on shelf, you can do it with any stuffed elf you can find- the book is only really the story of the elf, gives the rules (children can't touch him or he loses his magic) and about how he flys back to see Santa everynight to report on them. It is soooo much FUN!!!

Alas, our Bo-Jingles who had a great time
-drinking/spilling maple syrup
-decorating christmas cookies
-tp'ing (and green pee in toilet) the bathroom
-peeking in the advent calendar doors
-reading a mini Peanuts twas the night before xmas book to the tiny silver reindeer (moved them all into a circle around him)
-stayed up all night watching elf
-got into the marshmallows
-made powdered sugar snow angels on the counter
-found an old Pinata donkey and was riding on it in the kitchen

He will not be visiting us this year, because he has sent a photo book of his visit to our home. See, he was sent to learn about children and how they should behave (my son had LOTS of questions for Bo and Bo would write him back in alternating green/red lettering). So, he will be sending this photo book telling the children that he is indeed an OSE (official Santa Elf) and has been assigned to help with the reindeer.

"....and as cool and you may think,
they actually STINK!"

Good luck to all the other ELVES that visit. We had a blast!

Oh I can hardly wait to see what kind of mischief our Gilly will find himself in this year!

Twinkle was SO much fun last year! We've added a puppy to our family this year, so now I need to find an elf dog to join in the fun! (I don't know where I'll find an elf dog!) My DS has been talking about Twinkle for weeks already!

My 3 year old is terrified of elf on the shelf as I told her he is going to come over and watch her and report back to Santa so she better be good. She doesn't want him to come over and see her messy room. Also, I never told her this, but she knows that Santa brings toys to good kids but she thinks that Santa comes and takes bad kids away lol. That is all her own imagination. So she is scared if the elf comes, she might get nothing for Christmas and taken away lol.

Maybe you could dress up like a sexy elf for DH , that would be a surprise LOL!!

I ordered a few little legos treats for Jingle to leave DS8, and we will come up with a few fun surprises . Decorating cookies etc. Last year Jingle hid all the stockings and hung up DS's underwear lol.

I'll look forward to it when I'm old enough to think about having a family...

But since this is the Budget Board, you don't actually need a real elf toy or anything. I think I would have been more likely not to believe if it had just been a toy.

Brownie had a tendency to be peeking in the windows whenever I was being a little bad around the holiday season. Always the window behind me, naturally, and by the time I turned my head he had just left.

He never did too much for me in the way of pre-Christmas festivities, but he would come with Santa and give me a kiss while Santa was delivering presents. (Amazing what kind of things you can do with bright red lipstick and a heavy sleeping child with an active imagination)

Our dear Keebler is anxiously waiting to come out of his box. I love all the names. Keebler isn't super mischevious but he does like to hide. The kids wake up and are all over the place looking for him each morning.

I haven't bought one yet..DD is 3 so this is the first year we will be doing it with her...when does it start? is there an official date? I love the story about decorating her bedroom..
