Anyone else thinking this way?

Hey all, when there was no new pin this morning, i was actually kind of happy. My vmk characters could hang on to some much needed credits. Now, with the zebra pin out, it got me thinking not only about this pin, but future ones down the line.

This isnt meant as a knock on vmk, or peeps who run right out and grab everything new, thats cool. I have done it too. And if you want or like the pins, by all means have at it.

But i'm just sitting here wondering. Do I really want it/them? And if so why? I'll be honest, with my magic pins back on now (after the event) and the happiest pin i got from DL, i don't even have the retro pins on! (except the saucer one because i just think its cool).

So do i really want to spend 3000 (or more) credits per character to get the rest of the pins in this set that I won't wear when something i would/could wear or want more (like more outfits, new rooms or magic pins) looms somewhere down the road? Sure i could collect extra sets to trade later for something I want, but if i save my credits can't i just buy what i want anyway? wow, virtual dilemma brewing here rofl.

I look around some of my rooms at the stuff in it and wonder "why did i buy that? I'd rather have the credits back right about now lol". So that's what gives me pause on the pins.

Again, not trying to dramatize something so trivial, but just wondering if anyone else was flip-flopping on getting these pins? or thinking the same way?

honestly, the pins would never see the light of day on my lanyard. So i think i will ponder this a bit till tomorrow lol.

anyways, thaks for listening. And would appreciate any thoughts.

I agree, although I have one character who gets the pins, and another who is saving up credits, so I can have the best of both worlds! ;)

I dont like the new pins at all. I am wearing them today, but in the future my magic pins will be displayed.

I only bought them for trade purposes at a later date. I dont trade now, so dont ask!

I resisted the new pins, they were just too much money. I did break down and by the Toucan last weekend. But not that I really wanted it. I just thought it might come in handy for trading later.

Haven't been on yet to see the zebra but unless there is something really cool about it that strikes me, I probably won't buy it.

I just buy the special stuff if I like it. I've decided that this works well for me and I also save some credits!

Even if you do not like the pins they will probably become a hot commidity later on. Take the submarine pin for example. Few people had it and then everyone wanted it.

There will be new players that will want some of the items that were for sale before them and you never know what goddies may lie ahead like inferno. We all want it, few have it and even fewer have decent things to trade for it.

How many of you wish you had bought a few extra space suits or yellow dresses. You could pretty much ask for anything with enough of that stuff.

So flash ahead six months. There is a crop of new people that just signed on to the game. Some instantly win at whatever games are available in the future, and maybe win some very cool stuff. The quest prizes could change and you might not have a Disney trip scheduled any time soon. If you have pins that are no longer available, you are now at the front of the line to trade and get whatever you desire (well within the confines of the oh so strict VMK :teeth: ).

I am making sure that I have one of each thing for myself and one for trading at the minimum.

The issue of credits is a tough one. With the talk of the Magic Carpet coming out there is a crossroads. Do we save credits for that or get all the new stuff?

I say have a little of both worlds. I have my main character that has credits and I do not use them. I am building for that Magic Carpet. I try to add to it every day. I click, I play JC and attempt to play fireworks and I enter pirate codes.

I also have mule accounts and I "work" them. Each day is 200 credits if I do that right. That means as much as 1400 in credits a week per account but honestly I do not always get my timing correct. I have a high speed connection and the clicking takes just a few minutes. Less time that a game of fireworks. Then whenever a code comes out, it gets added to each account. So I was able to add 250 points today because of the new code. Those accounts are what I use to buy what I need. I am a little short on what I want for these pins and I have three mules. I have to click on them twice tomorrow and Sunday or hit the JC in order to buy the pins. I will be back to zero and then I will have to start working on them for the next week.

Part of the fun of this game for me is being creative in getting what I want to buy.

I really wish I had an inkling of what that magic carpet is going to cost. I know it is going to be expensive but how much really IS expensive. There is only so much JC I can take in one day and sooner or later they are going to stop the Kelloggs game which is my main source of credits.

The thing i spend my credits are hats and outfits. i usually change my hats everyday. I don't like pins anymore, except magic pins...they are too expensive and they don't do anything! if they talked or did something it would be awesome but nothing. if they did come out with more magic pins it would be awesome. but they don't!!!:(

I like the pins, but am not crazy about the outfits. I confess that I do like the princess tiara, but I have been away both times it came on sale so I wasn't able to buy it. I don't like the dress (though they look cute on people) or the explorer's outfit. The space suit is cool, but none of these are really me. So the only thing I really have to spend credits on? Pins!

True lisa,

I mean if i really wanted to have both worlds, i could simply create 2 more characters each weekend, punch in the codes and meet the characters and such (which now puts you pretty darn close to 2000 credits if you play pirates once and do your music once), buy 2 pins for both characters (4 total), and be done with it. Even though I have pirate tendencies (rofl) i didnt really want to pillage vmk like that. I know there will be new peeps in vmk that will not have this stuff, but it just seems that there are soooo many people in vmk now that all buy 10 of everything, that the things you can buy really arent that rare anymore, like it was when vmk first started. just an opinion though. That being said, i'll prob end up grabbing 1 before sunday night just to have it (but prob wont buy a bunch of them), after all i have that whole shopaholic thing going on lol.

So you think we pillage VMK huh?;) Far from it Mike with my slow internet connection I am lucky to get just one pin between all my characters...they pass things around alot. I only wish I could buy more than one of these items offered up at events heck sometimes only a few get the items I still only have 3 crowns between all my characters and that is because one was given to me! And NOT one pair of yellow princess shoes between the lot. So you see just because I have alot of characters does not mean I have loads of stuff and that I have ravished and pillaged VMK... :rotfl:

I can not get big points on Fireworks heck I am lucky to get thru a game due to play on dial up I get booted out alot sometimes even before the first round starts.;)

I'm kind of two minds on this. On the one hand, umm, they don't really cost us anything. There's no real monetary cost. (Granted, there is all that time crashing Jungle Cruise boats! lol ) But this isn't like with the REAL Disney pins where people periodically would raise the question of how much time and money we spent and wonder why.

Despite that, I do think 1000 points for a pin is way out of scale. Consider you can get a full non-limited outfit - pants, top, hat and shoes - for 100 credits. So a single pin costing 10 times that seems odd. And I do wish the pin would DO something. Show up on your avatar in the game. Maybe show up as animated scene when you click on it? Something.

All that said, I didn't collect the Tomorrowland pins but I am collecting the Jungle Cruise pins because they are animals and I like them. And seeing as my screen name in VMK is SimbaCub, I'd LOVE to get my hands on that darn lion pin which I failed in two attempts to get from CM's during that weekend.

I'm at the point (mainly because of a slow computer) that I only buy stuff I know I am going to wear. After my laptop was stolen and I am on the slower computer, I can no longer do the multiple character trick to earn credits. I used to have one computer and character on jungle cruise while I hung out with friends with my main character. Without the second computer and fast connection, I had to reevaluate how I spend my credits and time on vmk. Now I am mainly there to hang out with fellow dis'ers rather than earn credits for pins. I am sad about not being able to play pirates, though!

Hey!
I, too, was once guilty of buying an extra pin for trading. I have since decided that 1. they are getting outrageously expensive, and 2. every time I purchase that extra pin, everyone else seems to have a dozen! :rotfl2:
Now I have only one character that holds all the pins. :confused3 I only have one space suit (complete), two Sorcerer's hats (complete with rat fur) :earboy2: and one pink princess outfit. I didn't get the yellow one. (Should have, good for trades.) ;) My favorite room is now furnished, no need for any more there. So, I guess I'm just saving credits for whatever makes me say, "Gotta have that!" :goodvibes

If I am going to spend all my credits on a pin, it would be the magic carpet one. (When it comes out :teeth: . I hope that's soon.)

Has VMK ever offered any of the magic spells for sale? I came into the game a couple of weeks after Beta started, so may have missed something, but it seems to me all magic pins have had to be found in promotions, won in games, or earned in park quests.
