Anyone else, sore throat etc?

Omg, I have been sick since Thursday. Yesterday was the worst, today a little better, but for some reason I feel worse at night. My throat is killing me right now. I would have went to urgent care today but it's been cold & rainy all day, didn't want to get out. Plus, I think my son has the flu. (He's been sick since Thursday too) I pray we are both better tomorrow, he has semester exams & I have end of the year inventory. We usually never get sick. Now just hoping no one catches this crap from us, I would feel bad if I gave this to someone.

I did notice that this gets worse at night. Knock on wood, after 6 days, I now am only sleeping 8 hours instead of 14-16. This one threw me for a loop.

I've heard that's going around. I have it too. Got sick Thursday, called off work Friday because I felt so awful, I could barely walk down the stairs, everything hurt so bad, glands in my throat were huge and I couldn't swallow a pain pill, had to take my daughter's liquid tylenol then 2 hours later I would finally be able to swallow an ibuprofen. I alternated meds until today, I'm still feeling sick and my throat still hurts but it's bearable. I lost 6 pounds but probably most of that is water weight since I could barely force myself to drink or eat anything since Thursday. I didn't go to the doctor though because our weather was terrible and I hate driving in snow, so I'm wondering what it was too.

Add me to the list of sickies. I started last Wednesday at work with my eyes hurting and having an awful headache. Took ibuprofen and was better till it wore off. By Friday I had a bad cold and sore throat. Now I seem to have fluid in my ears that I can feel when I swallow or gulp. I seem to feel better by noon and then I get progressively worse as night falls. Now it's 4 and my sore throat is coming back. I made myself run to the grocery store to get what I needed for Christmas and that really zapped me. I'm vegging on the couch but think I'll get up to make some hot tea.

On another note the grocery store was packed! Shelves bare, crowded, ugh..I knew as it got closer to the weekend it would be a mob but wasn't expecting that today. Now I just hope I'm better at least by Wednesday so I can do a little baking. Ugh, Merry Christmas everyone.

Anyone know what's going around? Yesterday at 11am, I'm fine and in a work class. 11:30am, I feel a scratch in my throat. The rest of the day I felt crappy. My throat started to hurt, head plugged up but worst of all were my muscles were just so tired. I slept from 6pm last night until 10am this morning. I didn't have a fever and didn't eat. Today is a little better but I have to say, I've never felt that worn out in my life.

Had that exact thing a couple of weeks ago. Felt like I couldn't sleep enough. Lost my voice for a couple of days too. Rest as much as you can, take your vitamins, and it will pass. Drink a lot too, or else you will end up dehydrated.

Nothing going around here that I'm familiar with ...knock on wood. Lucky I haven't experienced a cold/flu in around 10 years. I attribute my good fortune at avoiding colds/flu by using light therapy. When I was living in the cold mid-west I had a UV light I would stand in front of 10 minutes at a time, a couple times a week.

Of late I've been reading about full spectrum lighting. The lights look like regular light bulbs, but instead give off light that mimics sunshine. I was watching a couple videos the other day on full spectrum lighting and found others commenting what I have experienced. It was mentioned that they had stopped developing colds/flu once the full spectrum lights were installed at work or at home.

One of the videos can be seen below. It's an older film made by Dr. John Ott that mentions lighting UV rays and not developing colds. As a side note, Dr. Ott also used to help make movie films for Disney.

At the around the 12:20 minute mark this idea is discussed.

6 days and counting. Knock on wood, I feel a little lousy but doable in the am but around 3pm, the tiredness and coughing make a come back. I fell asleep on the sofa tonight from 6:30-8. At least it's not the 16 hours that it was last week. It just sucks not having a lot of energy this time of year. I believe I'm starting to wallow in my own pity but trying hard not to. Drinking 1/2 cranberry and 1/2 oj. It's a different flavor from straight oj that I've been drinking all week.

My ds is sick so of course that means I should be getting it right about Christmas Eve.
I hope everyone feels better soon.

We got back from a cruise on Nov 12. That afternoon, at home, I started with the scratchy throat and congestion and by 6 pm I had 100 deg temp. The next day it was down to 99 and went away by that evening. I was achy and congested. I also had a swollen gland in my neck for a couple of days and I was really tired for the first 5 or so days. The cough lingered for almost 2 weeks. I'm fine and now a lot of people at work have it and some think it's gone into a sinus infection. No one caught it right after I came back (it was a good three weeks after I got back), so it's obviously going around and it's not my fault lol. We cruised out of Baltimore so we were home that day by 10 am and didn't have far to travel home. It's just a bad cold. I get flu shots every year for the last 19 years and haven't had the flu since, but I do catch a cold every 2-3 years and the ones around Christmas always seem to be the worst.

What helps us is that we also have a whole house humidifier and take hot steamy showers when we're congested so it didn't go beyond the cold. A couple of people here at work have gotten worse over the last two weeks not better and neither of them have humidifiers. They're good for a lot of reasons.

UGH. I hate when one of the kids gets it first and I know it's coming. I always prefer when I have it first and can take care of everyone without worrying about catching it any more.

I hope this time you're wrong and you're fine for Christmas!

I think I just have a bad cold. I feel ok for the most part but my throat hurts from coughing so much.
