Don't get me wrong, and the last thing I want to do is offend anyone, but when I found out "It's a Small World" will be closed for rehab when we visit in September a teeny little part of me was relieved:eek:

I'll look forward to the reopening, but sometimes that ride just seems like a chore to me-like something you have to do whether you want to or not.

Maybe I'm the only one who feels this way. I hope no one is insulted!

A little bit - I don't mind riding it once or even twice a visit, but my DD wants to ride it a couple times a day. I'm ready to try some new stuff.

Yeah, depending on what they do to it I guess. I just remember the first renovation to imagination (without Figment).......

That's right! I'd forgotten about the non-Figment ride altogether! Small World is down for such a long rehab, it'll be interesting to see what they do to it.

I told DS it would be down while we were there. He said, "Oh good, they really need to change that song!" I did not tell my grandmother, a devoted Small World lover.

It's certainly not going to ruin my trip, but what would be really great is if BTMR would be closed. I told the kids that of course I'd go on it this time, but I don't like any kind of roller coasters (even Goofy's Barnstormer!) and I could use a good excuse not to ride it!

In some ways, I'm disappointed that it will be closed down for so long. I'll miss it on my next two trips in Oct. and Dec. It's not my favorite rides, but it is one of those rides that I have to go on every trip. It's a classic :)

Oh, and I have to say that I get quite a bit of enjoyment out of how much people get annoyed by the song. My cell phone actually rings "It's A Small World." I've been known to make it play just to drive people crazy :)

I am torn. If they are just "refreshing" things, then that's okay. If they are planning any serious changes...............no!

I am 42 and I LOVE this attraction. I am bummed because we leave next Thursday and this is the first time EVER that I will not get to visit this attraction.

I'll miss it not being opened. It's not my favorite ride, but it is one that DH can take his wheelchair in. Besides it gives you a chance to cool off.

 Is is just me??????????

This ride is sooooo special! I don't know which I like more....Small World or Tiki Room. I AM SERIOUS!!!!!!

Yep, dd15 think's I'm crazy, too......but she HAS to put up with me. (i'm the one paying for the trip):wave2:

I'm happy because when we rode it last summer it really did look like it needed some work.

It's not my favorite ride by any means, but when we go this summer I will be a bit sad that it's closed, since I will miss the absolute PURE JOY that my little kids experience when they ride it! Also I will miss being able to duck in there and enjoy the air conditioning on hot days!

I'm happy they are doing some refurbishing of the ride, last time we were at MK was 6 years ago and it was looking worn out and forgotten.

I and my 14DD are really going to miss it this time around though.

Only 42 days left to go!!!!:bounce:

Yes, it is just you...

LindaR, I'm with you...I first went on It's a Small World when I was 3...made my Mom, brother and grandmother ride it again and again and again and again...21 years later, I STILL love that ride and my fiance thinks I'm a little nuts...He'll ride it with me, but once is plenty for him...
I'm glad someone else out there loves it too!!

LOL. O YEAH. I'm secretly praying rehab will take about a month longer than they're saying so we won't have to ride next April. But even if I don't get that wish, at least things will be much newer, so riding once to see the changes will maybe be tolerable.

My DS, 14, is TICKLED PINK that the ride will be closed on our upcoming trip!! When we went in 2002, he really didn't want to go on but I didn't feel comfortable leaving him outside waiting for us (in our family, if there is a ride that not everyone wants to go on, we would take a vote on whether or not to do it - he lost that time! :teeth: In all fairness, one of my DD's didn't want to go AE and went in for the same reason! ::yes:: ) When I told him he wouldn't need to go on it, he yelled "YES!" :bounce:

The changes that are being made are improvements to infrastructure, not a change of theme, story, music, or style.
All-in-all the attraction should look as glorious as originally intended -or even better- when it reopens almost a year from now.

You a cm Steve?

By infrastructure, do you mean integrity of the building, the boats, tracks, sound system, etc.?

Thanks... Just being nosy...

YAAAY! Do you guys all realize that alot of baby toys play "It's a Small World" ?!! It's some conspiracy to train children from a very small age to enjoy that ride!
I also can't help but feeling that the Mexico boat ride at Epcot is just a larger version at the end. REhab of that would also be great!

When is the rehab scheduled?

We are going the last week of July and I can't wait to see the look on my DD's face. She just turned two and lovest the Disneyland Fun sing-a-long.
