My DH thinks I'm crazy for spending so much time on these boards, but as much as I try to explain he doesn't understand all the helpful advice I find! I don't think I'm going overboard, all I've done is taken note of what nights each park have EMH during our stay, what counter service meals to go to (I just lost some weight and want to keep it off, so this was very important to me) and I also made a few PS. Am I going overboard? Please tell me I'm not the only one?

You are not alone - Planning is what tides me over between trips....

Overboard? Not a chance! There's no such thing as too much planning for a WDW trip. Just ask any DISer! For me, the planning is the best part. I get to wallow in the details, dream of the resort, the parks, and even the food as I prepare a fabulous vacation for months in advance!
BTW...my grandmother grew up on Church Street in your town! I'm just 8 exits north on the Parkway.

You'll find that most DISer's completely understand your need to plan. That's why we're all here! :)

I am planning a ton....It is our first trip and I want everything to be the best it can be! It's just nice to know things about the resort, places to eat, how to get around....you name it! This is a great website! I would be completely lost without it!

Glad to hear I'm not alone!!

NCbyrne- I can walk to Church Street:-) My DH and I just moved here last year, I gew up in Matawan, next town over!

Certainly not the only one! I wish I spent as much time vacationing as I do planning! One thing I'd like to ask you is which counter service restaurants were recommended to you for keeping off your weight? I'm dieting now, and would like to know as well so I don't gain back whatever comes off. Thanks

I don't know when your trip is but you might want to call your resort directly a day or two before your arrival to check the EMH days and nights. On our trip 1/19 they had changed them from what had been previously published so I had to scramble to change our itenerary and PSs which was a bit of a pain.

Have a nice trip. :wizard:

P.S. You are by no means alone! :disrocks: :crowded:

Heck, we have two ps's a day.. naaaa I don't plan much :rotfl:

My DH is also amused by the amount of research I am doing online, but he doesn't really mind as it means he can play with PS2 and not feel guilty. Suits us both really:-)

I plan way to much. I spend have of the night trying to figure out where we are going to eat. Which Park on which day. (Wish I had the hours they will be open to.) My family just laughs.

I get that "Don't over plan" speech everytime I start THINKING about going back. :teeth:
DH calls it a disease and said we all need some sort of 12 step program but I think it will take alot more than 12 steps.

Once you get the fever there really isn't any cure. Just tell DH to accept the fact that you're a DISer now and there is no amount of protesting that will slow down your planning.

One piece of advice: BEEEEEE FLEXIBLE!!!! Don't let a little thing like a TA mistake or weather obstacle make you have a major melt down and ruin your vacation. Just remember that what it is: a vacation. A time to get away from it all and spend some QUALITY time with your family. HAVE FUN :cool1:

You need to read the one thread about things overheard at WDW- The best ones are the parents loosing it at their kids and yelling at them that they are at Disney and we are going to have fun or else!!!! :rotfl:

I agree that planning is part of the fun. For me, it's always better to have a PS than to wait in line for lunch or dinner...too much to do....to much to see!

:rotfl: You know, my family laughed at me for planning and planning and planning on our last trip. I had each day's itenerary carefuly planned out with which park we would eat at, where we would have each meal. I provided everyone with menus prior to arrival and I even had back up plans in case of bad weather. They all thought I was crazy... BUT....
The next year, when we went to the beach, they were all like, why didn't you plan this trip? It was so nice knowing exactly where we were going to eat and what we were going to do.
Whatever :rolleyes1

My family, too made fun of all the planning and lists of what and when I drew up. Yes, things did change somewhat as the trip progressed. BUT my family was very appreciative of just how good a time we had and thanked me for all my hard work. A little planning goes a long way, especially when it's meal time and everyone is hungry and happily weary from all that Disney fun.

Anticipation is half the fun!

Enjoy!

That makes me feel so much better. My DD and I just sat here with a tiny notebook writing down key menu items from each restaurant that we have on our meal vouchers. That way, when we get there, we can take a brief look and decide what we're in the mood for, rather than wandering around looking at menus. We hope to make the most out of our vouchers that way. My DH says I have some obsessive compulsive traits.....he's probably right. WE LEAVE IN 5 DAYS!!!

I have a legal pad in front of me right now where I've been keeping notes. There are pages for hotels, restaurants, budget, tips, pressed pennies, etc, etc, etc....lol! Every time I find something I want to remember I try to write it down. Later I'm going to have to go through all of it and organize it some way. This is our first trip so I want to get the most out of it.

Two years ago we went to the Grand Canyon and Las Vegas and I mega planned that. We got to go to and do a lot of neat stuff because I had researched ahead of time. I think it helps so much!

LOL...if I'm even going on a day trip to Albuquerque I get on the computer and print out maps and research where I'm going so I get the most out of that day. I know, I'm crazy. :earboy2:

My DH thinks the amount of time I spend reading WDW guidebooks, planning our itinerary, and reading posts on this website is obnoxious. However, then when our trip is over he always comments to me and everyone else on what a great trip we had. He also refers his friends and family all to me with WDW planning/vacation questions. I just smile! princess: pirate: :earboy2:

I agree, my family thought I was crazy on the last disney trip, everything (as far as meals, and major rides) was planned out and ready. When we went to the outerbanks last year, they wanted to know where we were going to eat that first night. Heck I don't know, they looked at me like I had 10 heads!
