As a DVC owner I can say that every trip to WDW will have a kitchen and W/D!! We would be lost without our kitchen and laundry facilities. We would not (and cannot handle) eat out 3 meals a day...especially Disney food. One maybe two meals out is fine with us. Breakfast in our room is a must. If we are out at lunch, then we grab something, but always end up back at the room for dinner. We are going on a 4 day trip to Mackinac Island and we are staying in a hotel with a fridge and microwave. I am sure we will get milk and snacks, but our meals will be eaten out. You cannot imagine the amount of money we have saved by eating our meals in our room!
As far as laundry...we only take a few days worth of clothes. No need to pack for the full duration of the trip. Plus, when y'all come home you have to do laundry! All we do is take our clothes from suitcase to the dresser. Ours are already cleaned. Y'all make it sound like we slave on vacation. What is the big deal about throwing in a load of laundry before leaving for the parks and tossing it in the dryer when you get back? I know there are quite a few other DVC members that feel the same way.

I will not cook on vacation. I will not smuggle in kitchen appliances, barbeque grills or use the resort iron to make grilled cheese sandwiches. I will not use the coffee pot to make food, nor will I use the microwave at the food court to rustle up some dinner. I will not make my family share meals to save money, I will not reuse water bottles, nor will I pinch a penny until it bleeds. If we cannot afford to go and eat out we just will not go.

If that works for you, go for it. I can afford to eat out, I just prefer to eat in and cook what I eat. It works for me.

Well Gail, I am glad your plan works for you, just like mine works for me.

That's how we are too. I don't consider having a kitchen a money saver, it's a luxury!
There was nothing nicer than sitting out on the balcony at OKW early in the morning eating breakfast in peace and quiet.
Btw, I believe the $10,000 the OP spoke of was for the entire trip, not just the room. Depending on where you stay and for how long, $10,000 isn't really all that much for the entire vacation.
You know, some people would think spending $300 on a single meal is just as crazy as making grilled cheese sandwiches with an iron.![]()
I'm so glad to hear about someone who actually won since I've never won a nickel. Congratulations.Originally posted by GAIL HAYDEN
Ah, yes OKW in the am. It is lovely!!!!!
LOL, well, I am considering Vic and Al's as a celebration for winning 5000.00 at the Casino, but, I would never consider using an iron to toast a cheese sandwich. LOL Different strokes.![]()

As we all know, spending "found" money is a completely different story. One should never do anything totally sensible with it!![]()
Just to clarify....I've never tried the grilled cheese thing....We don't come close to "cooking" unless we're in a DVC resort with a full kitchen.
Btw, congrats on your big win! The best I've ever done was a $500 win on $1 Wheel of Fortune!!! Maybe I need to give table games a chance....
