We just booked out of Wash/Dulles. I have always been a last minute flight booker. But recently, Dulles lost alot of their non-stop flyers to MCO. Now only be left with United/TED, I've been watching the fares climb and the seats fill up (love those seat maps to gauge). I bit the bullet after reading so many news articles about the price of oil continuing to rise. With hurricane season upon us, it will only take one to change everything in terms of available flights. So I bought my tickets for Oct. 14th. Still not even a great choice of times left. Paid just under $200 each rt, non-stop. I really didn't think it would drop much more, as mid-October has always had some of the highest rates (with Sept. and Jan having the lowest). Fortunately SW is now moving into Dulles, and though I don't have plans to use them, it will help keep the fares lower as most carriers will match fares. Years ago I played the waiting game, but we had Delta, USAir, United, then FlyI to choose from for non-stop. We flew FlyI 4 trips last year and were happy with them, but they are gone, so now just United for us. But we didn't mind paying a little extra as United is one of the carriers that participates in Disney resort luggage checkin for your return flight home. We have used this service for our last 3 trips staying at AKL, WL, and BWV and it works great. SW is not a participating airlines, so the extra was worth it for us. Good luck and don't wait too late.
