I was sick a couple of weeks ago and came across a Season 3 marathon one day on Starz so I got into it. :goodvibes

I've since watched just about all of the episodes of Seasons 1, 2 and 3, save for maybe one, and am now re-watching it with DH, who has Scottish roots, and even shares a last name with one of the characters, lol.

Anyone else?

I'm not new to it, I was so excited to find out they were making a show based on the books.
I would suggest reading the books especially if you enjoy the show. You will definitely be hooked!
My dh makes fun of of my semi-obsession. He's always asking me if what I'm watching involves a time traveling nurse LOL

We are watching it. I think we are in second or third season. I want to like it but I am finding the story line moving too slow.

Haha! Thank you for the suggestion! I'll keep it in mind! (Not much of a novel reader; more of a news junkie or informational type book reader. I also don't generally watch a lot of TV! :lmao: )

That's how my DD felt about it, too. I have a little trouble understanding the accents at times, but I've found it helpful to follow a written breakdown of the main plots of each episode so I know what's going on!

We're also enjoying the soundtrack on Apple Music. DH likes bagpipes anyway, so it's a good fit for him.

I'm not new to it. It's my favorite series though. I have read all the books, which IMO, make the show even better. There are so many details in the books, it is unbelievable; however, this is one of the best book to series shows ever. I wasn't thrilled with the season that just ended. Way to many episodes on the ship, but the redeemed themselves in the end. Looking forward to the next season as they start their lives in America. This next season's storyline was very enjoyable to me in the books.

I agree that it's by far the best series I've ever seen! I actually gasped a few times, I was so shocked at what I was seeing! One night when I was sick I think I stayed up past sunrise watching Season 1, lol.

I'm impressed with the original writer of the books, though, too. How in the world did she ever dream all this stuff up?

I read the entire book series. Loved it!!
Haven't watched the tv series, since we don't have Starz.

To be truthful, I was kinda bummed when I finished the last book....
I enjoyed being in Claire and Jamie's world!
What happens next?

I know what you mean! Aww, you should try to watch the series! It's visually stunning! I got it through Amazon. They have a free 7day trial for Starz, then I think it's 7 or 8.99/month, but you can stop it anytime. We actually have Starz as part of our cable package anyway, so we'll be able to watch Season 4. I'm not sure if that will be on the App or if it's just the older seasons.

I've considered subscribing to Starz for Outlander alone.
But I have a very distinct picture of the characters from the books.

I'm kinda afraid the tv series will ruin it, not sure why?

Idk. I peeked at an old thread here about the series, not sure if any of you were on it, but it seemed that even people who loved the books enjoyed the series, too. As I said, the music is really nice, and they did a great job with casting, costumes and visual effects, etc. In between each show the people involved in creating the shows talk about why they did things and what was going on in the episodes, etc. Pretty interesting. I'd say give it a try! And you can be back in Claire and Jamies' world again for a while! :goodvibes

I do enjoy a good bagpipe once in a while, lol!
Worth considering!

Claire and Jamie were perfectly cast as were Angus, Murtaugh, Laoighere (sp), and Fergus. A few other secondary actors were so-so to me, but nothing that truly was wrong.

I think you should give it a try. I am very skeptical of books-to-movies and this one was extremely well done.

I started the series but dropped it eventually. There was just something, um, missing or not attention keeping. Show didnt leave me wanting to come back for more, so I didnt.

see, i felt Claire was poorly cast, didnt feel right to me.

For the App, we have a cable that goes from our phone or iPad to our TV, so we can watch it on the big screen even though it's through an App. Now that I think of it, it is a Smart TV so we could probably pull it up directly on Amazon. We haven't gotten that far yet, though.

I need to get back into it. I read all of the books, which I loved, and only saw the first season. My daughter got Starz just to watch the series. Hmmm...

This is absolutely my favorite show or obsession according to my DH. I am reading the books now too. What helps is I went to the Scottish Highlands about 2 years ago and I recognize so many places in the show. I'm going back again this year and several people in the group also watch the show. I can't wait.

Watched all 3 seasons. My mum sister and I would have Outlander night each Sunday evening after putting the kids to bed. I would go to mum's house, popcorn and a glass of wine and watch with them. Read all the books, waiting on the next one to come out.
