The weather in January? I've read that it can be unpredictable. We're going 1/10-1/15. I'm worried about it being cold and rainy. I'm in NC and today it's about 55 and drizzly, basically totally miserable outside. I'm not sure if changing my dates are an option b/c I'm taking my niece who's in year round school and that's when she's out.

Is it worth it to try and move my dates until the spring, maybe she'll have spring break. I bet it'll be more crowded then, which is why I originally picked Jan, to avoid the crowds. :confused3

Maybe I'm just being a worry wart!:sad2:

Perfectly understandable! I'm going in Nov and am wondering about the weather as well. One thing I have learned to accept is there is NOTHING you can do about the weather (other than talk about it! :lmao:).

We have been to DL in the rain before. Not the best of circumstances but the bright side is that alot of people clear out and you have the park to yourselves. Go to the Dollar Store and stock up on some ponchos to bring with you. The park sells ponchos and they are waaaay more expensive. At least with the Dollar ponchos, you're not out alot of money and can have a new one every day!

There are still things you can do in the rain.......check out the cinema on Main St, go inside Innovations, go to the Tiki Room, ride some of the "inside" rides, etc. Or just go for it with your poncho on!

You really can never tell with the weather. I'm in Central CA and we got POUNDED with a big storm all day yesterday (I even was without power for about 6 hours) and this afternoon, it's sunny and in the mid 70's. Go figure!

Relax and just enjoy planning your trip! :flower3:

I would keep your travel dates as is. The PP is right, gloomy weather will likely mean less crowds. Plus, as just mentioned above, the weather here is UNPREDICTABLE! Wouldn't you hate to reschedule your trip for spring break, when the parks are much more crowded, just to find bad weather during that time too?

I got you beat, I was out for 20 hours!

It is rare that we get rain for days on end. So yes, you may have a day or two of rain, but you may have sunny skies everyday too. Also, changing to March or April, you may get rain then too.

Ugh! 20 hours! :scared1: Now I feel bad for complaining about my 6 hour outage! One of the things that irritated me the most was not being about the check the Dis!! :surfweb:

We just had the same odd weather pattern up here too! Our power was only out for a couple hours.

We went to DLR last Jan on the first and second. On Jan 1st, it was pretty warm in the 70's. The next day I had on a sweater and a coat and I was cold and numb all day. Must have stayed below 60. I would dress in layers.

I wouldn't change your dates. They work with your schedule, you are probably saving money by going then and weather is not something you can control in any season. Quite honestly, I LOVE  it when its rainy in Dl. It gets all sparkly and pretty and best of all, EMPTY! Some of our best memories in DL were in the rain. Do as a pp suggested, dress in layers. The old boyscouts motto really does apply...

I went to Disneyland last December and it just about poured for 3 days straight. Although we did not enjoy the rain, we didn't let it dampen our fun. The parks will tend to be less crowded (which is great) but lots of rides will close. Also you can more than likely count out the fireworks if there is heavy rain.

Do buy ponchos if you have them at your local dollar store because Disney will rob you blind for one in the park. I'm shameless and just poked 2 arm holes in a hefty garbage bag, it worked alright but wasn't that fashionable and a hood would have been nice.

The other bonus to rainy days at the park is you don't have to worry about getting wet on Splash Mountain or Grizzly River Run because you are already soaked!

I can remember 2 spring breaks in the last 3 years where it rained for several days. I wouldn't change. At least you wouldn't be surprised by potential rainfall.

Eh, it might rain (probably will, this year is our El Nino year which means more rain, but not always down South, it may just be up here in the North), it will be chilly but you'll be IN DISNEYLAND! LOL We have gone 3 times in Jan, it was wet but it was fun, we also went twice this past Feb and it rained both times. Again, not a biggie, it was cold and wet but still fun. Just take umbrellas, ponchos and warm coats and you'll be good. :)
